    RECAP:1B Carlos Rivero, CF Leon Landry and 2B Zach Shank each drove in a run for the Rainiers, but it wasn’t enough as Tacoma feSacramento 3-11 on Thursday night. Landry (2x4, RBI) and RF Stefen Romero (2x3, R) each recorded multi-hit games, while Rivero  (RBI), Shank (1x3, RBI, BB) and LF Jabari Blash (1x3, R, 2B, BB) each collected 1 of the team’s 7 hits. Starter Jordan Pries (6.2,7,5,5recorded his 3rd loss, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits over 6.2 innings. Ketel Marte was the starting shortstop and hit 2nd for the Psquad. Overall he went 0-for-2 in the game. RH Forrest Snow represented the Rainiers on the PCL All-Star team, but did not play.

    RECAP: The Generals scored a run in the top of the first inning to take an early lead, but the lead didn’t last as Jackson fell to Mobile 3-8Thursday night.     ROY HOWELL TAKES OVER AS MANAGER: The Seattle Mariners announced that hitting coach Roy Howell would assume manag

    duties for the Jackson Generals for the remainder of the 2015 season beginning June 30. Jim Horner, who had managed Seattle’s Doubaffiliate since the beginning of last year, recently accepted an assistant coaching position at Washington State University. It marks the secoconsecutive season that Howell has taken over as manager for a Seattle affiliate. Last March, he replaced Rich Donnelly as the manageTriple-A Tacoma after Donnelly was named the Mariners’ third-base coach in Spring Training. He led the Rainiers to a 74-70 mark, and hisvictories were tied for the 9th-most by a manager in his first full season. Howell, in his 4th season with the Mariners organization, spent 20and 2013 with the High Desert Mavericks in the California League. His managerial resume includes three seasons at short-season Eug(2003-05), three seasons with San Luis of the California Collegiate League (2007-10) and one season leading the field staff for the RWarriors of the independent Atlantic League (2011). A former first-round selection by Texas in the 1972 draft, Howell logged time in the Pas a player with Spokane (1974) and Portland (1985), as well as three seasons as a hitting coach with Portland (2000-02).

    Seattle Mariners minor league SS Ketel Marte and RHP Edwin Diaz represented the World team in the 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star FuGame at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, as part of All-Star weekend. Marte, 21, went 2-for-2 with 1 RBI playing second and baeadoff for the World Team.     The Mariners have had 35 selections (including Marte and Diaz) to the Futures Game since its first began in 1999.
