Library: At a Glance
AUD library first came in existence in March 2009 with the collection of 1800
print books at Dwarka campus. Presently AUD has rich and rapidly growing
three campus libraries based in Kashmere Gate (KG), Karampura (KP), and
Lodhi Road (LR) campus.
The Library aims to provide a user-friendly platform to all users to access print
and online resources without any hassle through KOHA OPAC along with
remote access facility. The library is fully automated with KOHA open source
software for daily housekeeping operations of the library across the campuses.
Currently, AUD Library has more than 65198 print books, 70 print journals,
261 CD/DVDs, more than 19222 e-journals, around 2 lakhs e-books and 35
online databases.

NEWSLETTER
The central library of AUD is based at Kashmere Gate Campus and was established in 2009. It has a
comprehensive collection of print and online resources to endorse the academic, professional and
research activities in Social Science and Humanities area. This campus also have special collection on
Mahatma Gandhi (256) , Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, books on Disability Studies (121) and Rare books (527).

the collection covers the law and governance, global studies, urban studies, along with the undergraduate

The Library at Lodhi Road campus was established on 05th September 2017 with 1535 print
books. The LR library has multidisciplinary resources with a focus on educational studies and early
childhood education.

LIBRARY PROCUREMENT POLICY OF BOOKS AND PERIODICALS
AUD Library has a fairly comprehensive book procurement procedure to facilitate faculties and students.
Library accepts recommendation through various methods like book exhibition, individual recommendation
and request by faculty. Library checks duplication of recommended books and place the list of
recommended books before the competent authority to obtain its administrative as well as financial
approval before ordering the books. Recommendation form is available on :

LIBRARY CIRCULATION POLICY
Library circulation section facilitates users for check out, check in, place hold and renew of books. AUD
students, staff and faculty must have to carry their university ID card to avail these services. Library has
categorised borrowing limits and period on the basis of courses-
INTER-LIBRARY LOAN/ INTRA-CAMPUS-LIBRARY LOAN
AUD Library provides Inter-Library Loan through DELNET to their users. Under this facility, all users can
borrow books through DELNET, which operates inter-library loan service among around 7000 member
libraries across the world. Library has also Intra-Campus-Library Loan facility where users have access to
resources of all the three campuses of AUD. For these services, users can request through e-mail or can
visit the AUD libraries of their campuses.

INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY
AUD Library has its Institutional Repository (IR) which designed to store and make available the entire
digital scholarly output of AUD. Library uses DSpace Institutional Repository Software which allows the
users (Faculty, Staff, Student and Research Scholar) to self-archive their papers, share research data, and
store their digitized image or multimedia collections. Library users can use this platform for more visibility
of their research and others colleagues writing works.
As of now Library has uploaded more than 360 documents in different categories like AUD News/
Conference Proceedings Articles/ Articles in Journals and Newspapers/ Thesis and Dissertation/ Annual
Report/ NAAC etc. In last six months (January-June 2020) Library has uploaded 334 documents. For more

Remote access Facility for e-resources : AUD Library provides two platforms for remote access
Sophos Connect: AUD Users can easily use library e-resources through Sophos software remotely. For
this service, first, the user should have to install Sophos software and Open the VPN on their computer.

INFED (INFLIBNET Access Management Federation): AUD Library has subscription of the
electronic resources through e-ShodhSindhu as well as from the publishers. The Off-Campus Access
service is provided to the faculty members, scholars and students to seamlessly access the subscribed
scholarly electronic resources. Username and password has been provided to all the faculty members
and scholars to access the resources 24/7 through the Library. For more information kindly go through

Dr. Alka Rai was invited as subject expert in a Live and interactive
session of Sr. Secondary, Library Science, Modern Libraries: Concept of
Automated, Hybrid, Digital and Virtual Libraries by NIOS (National
Institute of Open Schooling) on 27th February 2020 for the senior
secondary level students.

Chair Plenary Session of Keynote Speakers and address in the
Valedictory session at 9th International Library Information Professional
Summit (I-LIPS) On Academic Libraries: Latest Trends Challenges and
Opportunities, 14 Feb to 16 Feb 2020, Organized by S.O.S. in Library
and Information Science, Jiwaji University Gwalior, in association with
ITM University, Gwalior, Special Libraries Association (USA)- Asian
Chapter, Society for Library Professionals (SLP), IFLA - Asia and
Oceania Section, at Jiwaji University, Gwalior, M.P.
On 30th May 2020 uLektz Wall of Fame has announced top 50
outstanding librarians across India for the year 2019 and Dr. Debal
C. Kar was one of the top librarian in the list.
Programme : Workshop
Library organised a workshop during “Shodhotsav” for MPhil and PhD Scholars, “From Research to
Publication: What Researchers Should Know?” on 20th January 2020 at Kashmere Gate Campus. In this
workshop more than 180 persons were registered and due to limited seats only 60 participants could
participated. Prof. Ramesh C. Gaur, Dean and Director (Library & Information) & Head - Kala
Nidhi Division at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, Ministry of Culture,
Government of India, Dr. Manorama Tripathi, University Librarian, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU),
New Delhi and Mr. Aakash Chakravarty from Routledge were the resource persons and Dr. Alka Rai,
Deputy Librarian was the session coordinator.
Programme : Newsletter Launching
Library published its first issue of quarterly newsletter on 22nd January 2020
during the valedictory of Shodhotsav in the presence of Pro Vice-
Chancellor I Prof. Jatin Bhatt, Pro Vice-Chancellor II Prof. Salil Misra
and Dean Research and Consultancy, Prof. Geetha Venkataraman .
Programme : Inauguration of JAWS Computer Software
A step towards making AUD library more inclusive. Hon'ble Vice
Chancellor Prof. Anu Singh Lather inaugurated Library’s first assistive
device Scanner cum reader (that can convert text into speech) as well as
„JAWS Computer Software‟ installed in Library to reduce print disability
in presence of Pro-VC , Prof Jatin Bhatt, Registrar Dr. Nitin Malik, and
LC chair Prof Rukmini Sen and other members of Library committee on

Library organised demo session of EPWRF India Time Series on 26th Feb 2020 at Kashmere Gate Campus.
Programme : Online Webinar/ Training Sessions
AUD Library has conducted two hours long webinar / online workshop for MA, Global Studies Students at
GOOGLE MEET on 29th April 2020. It was an interactive session and the feedbacks received from the
participants after the workshop were highly motivating.
Library organised two online training sessions on URKUND plagiarism software for AUD fraternity on
12/5/2020 and 4/6/2020.

AUD library in collaboration with Elsevier organised a research
article writing webinar “Basics of Planning your Research Article
Writing” on 29th June 2020. The second session in this webinar was
on Mendeley, a reference management tool. More than 440 national
and international (participants from Australia, Nigeria, and Fiji)
participants got registered. Around 50% (200) registrations were
from AUD only and total 210 faculty, research scholars, and
librarians from various institutions attended this webinar.
The library has planned to provide a single window search facility to users for smooth searching and to
access all the subscribed resources without any obstacles.
Library has initiated for RFID technology for security purpose as well as for self-check-in facility.
AUD Library is working on developing a dedicated library website.
To provide more techno-friendly and convenient environment to library users in future AUD library is
planning to initiate the Digital Library Project.
Library is planning to collaborate with other universities and academic institution libraries in India and
abroad for resource sharing.
