Who May Administer the DSTP?

• DE-certified educators (teachers, administrators, or guidance counselors)

• Paraprofessionals, if closely supervised by a DE-certified teacher

• Translators (if they are not also DE-certified educators, they must be closely supervised by a DE-certified teacher)

• Substitute teachers (if they are not also DE-certified educators, they must be closely supervised by a DE-certified educator)

If there is a severe shortage of staff, you may use:

• student teachers as Test Administrators, if closely supervised by a DE-certified teacher.

• school support staff to act as scribes.

Are parents or other individuals permitted to observe in the classroom during DSTP test administration?

No. • No persons except the Test Administrators and the students taking the test are permitted to be present in the testing room during test administration. • Parents and other individuals are not permitted to observe or be present in the classroom during DSTP test administration.

Reading Test Questions and Response Options to students during the READING test

It is appropriate to read test questions and response options aloud to a student during the Reading test if:

• the student has accommodation 5, 82, 85, or a unique accommodation which allows it.

There are no other circumstances under which a Test Administrator may read aloud a test question and response options to a student during the Reading test.

Reading Test Questions and Response Options to students during the MATH test

• It is appropriate to read test questions and response options aloud to a student during the Mathematics test IF:– the student has accommodation 5, 82, 83, 85, or a

unique accommodation which allows it.– the student has no accommodations and has

requested that you read the question aloud to him or her.

• You may read a very limited number of questions aloud to a student upon request. If a student repeatedly asks to have questions read aloud, you must redirect the student to read the questions to himself or herself.
