INDUSTRY PARTICIPATION• Testing and analytical services for the industries. (A typical list of the services

rendered for the past year or so is given in appendix for ready reference).

• The team had been carrying out many Research based Industry Consultancy (RBIC) assignments in the past like preparation of poly lactic acid and preparation of Ibuprofen for Lactochem Limited, and other industries. A sample supporting document from the chief of R and D of Malladi Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited is enclosed as appendix 2 for this section.

• The team member is also doing work for Reliance Industries Limited.

• In addition the team had been carrying out a number of research projects for various industries in the past and also there are some on going research projects for industries.

• The investigators are consultants to many industries and this will also ensure definite industry participation to the centre. In fact the investigators are in touch with many other industries like International Tractors ( consultant ) for fuel cell development, General Motors P and G and many other national and multi-national organizations and these will also be extensively pursued to make sure industry participation in the centre.

39

OTHER NATIONAL LEVEL PLANS To build up information on various Centres in the country and also act as a

store house and sorting house for the trouble shoot problems of the industry. To possibly create an archiving of all the publications in the area of catalysis

in India so that it will truly reflect the status of this field in this country. The eprints server is being installed already.

To run the national level The Catalysis Society of India, whose headquarters is the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

To run the national journal Bulletin of the Catalysis Society of India both in electronic form and also in printed version.

The centre will in addition will also aim to create a data base on the following:

Man Power data with specialization and expertise Facilities and expertise available in each of the laboratories Data base on the use of catalysts in industries and the sources Data base on the trouble shoots and the solutions obtained Data base on the available catalyst products in the market Any other data base that may be necessary.
