How does it work?

To Determine Eligibility …

The V.I.P. system calculates the risks based upon the customer’s historical payment information and other data stored in national databases. It then integrates this information into a proprietary algorithm, analyzing these and other economic factors without affecting the customers credit score.

If the overall customer risk profile is favorable, the transaction is accepted and the customer is able to purchase the goods or services on the spot.

The customer is charged $5 (weekly), $10 (bi-weekly), or $15 (monthly) as a “convenience fee” that is applied to each payment. This fee goes to the merchant.

The customer chooses which of these options works best for them and selects a start date for the first payment.

On a $1,000.00 sale, the customer can choose weekly:($83.33 + $5 [$88.33] x12 payments = $1,060.00).

or bi-weekly:($166.67 + $10 [$176.67] x 6 payments = $1,060.00).

or monthly:($333.33 + $15 [$348.33] x 3 payments = $1,045.00).

Let’s look at a quick example:

The payments, including the convenience fees, are then electronically transferred from the customer’s account into the merchant’s account on the specified dates noted in the agreement over the next 90 days.

The merchant is billed a “guarantee fee” of 6.5% of the total sale on or about the 10th of the following month. This is the fee charged for the risk taken by GMS in approving and guaranteeing the customer’s payments.

So, in our $1,000 example you would be billed a “guarantee fee” of $65. But this is offset almost entirely by the customer convenience fees that are deposited into your account ($60).

When you add in the processing fee of $0.30 per payment, your NET cost to use the service is under $7.00 (based on a $1,000 sale and bi-weekly payments).
