Educational Objectives:

Objective 1: [Foundations] (Solid and basic knowledge) Aimed to cultivate students to grasp solid major-related basic principles and basic knowledge in aspects of methodology, approaches and so on. Also, students are prepared to put what they have learned into mechanical engineering practice by accessing to and mastering advanced means of mechanical parts and mechanical design, manufacturing, analysis, model building and computing.

Objective 2: [Professional Knowledge] (Problem-solving abilities) Aimed to cultivate students to solve problems they encounter in the process of practice and industrial needs by innovatively utilizing the fundamentals of mechanical engineering.

Objective 3: [Teamwork/Leadership] Aimed to cultivate students to be equipped with communicative and collaborative abilities which enables them to procure leadership capacities in mechanical engineering field.

Objective 4: [Engineered Systems] (Cognitive ability of engineering system) Aimed to cultivate students to correctly understand the meaning of engineering system to the objective world and make them know that machinery is a significant constitutive part to achieve the design and equipment of mechanical engineering system and it should serve the society and world.

Objective 5: [Societal Impact] (Assessment ability of major-related social impact) Aimed to enable students to realize that manufacturing is the backbone to our country and mechanical engineering is the mainstay to manufacturing. Also, students need to rationally look at the potential influence of mechanical design to national defense, industry, agriculture, transportation and peoples everyday life.

Objective 6: [Global Awareness] Aimed to cultivate students to keep a clear mindset in globalization background and implement the corresponding responsibilities competitively and dutifully.

Objective 7: [Lifelong Learning] The graduates in mechanical engineering are able to be competent to vocational career of all kinds of experiences and to be equipped with lifelong learning abilities.

Speciality Features:

The major aims to cultivate students to master solid and basic knowledge of mechanical speciality which mainly includes engineering graphics, mechanics, mechanology, microelectronic technology, computer technology, information processing technology and modern design and manufacturing method, and students are edified by basic training of modern engineers and scientific research. Furthermore, students are equipped with the basic abilities of research, design, management in mechanical equipment related fields by conducting international communication and emphatically training their innovation and capacity.

The objective system of each course is composed of a corresponding set of cultivation purposes, which are the appropriate knowledge, ability and quality that students are supposed to gain.

The professional training with a broad and solid foundation theory and system in-depth expertise, deep understanding of the discipline development direction, grasp the latest research results in the field of mechanical manufacturing and automation, mechanical and electronic, mechanical design, vehicle engineering, manufacturing engineering detection and instrument etc., engaged in an independent scientific research and solve complex engineering problems of ability, excellent scientific research innovation ability, strong international communication skills, strong ability of management, competent mechanical engineering and cross field of scientific research, technology research, project management, teaching for senior specialized talents.

The training of the creative class of the students to implement the Tutor (Guidance Group) responsible for the system, under the guidance of the tutor to complete the scientific research and academic degree thesis. The Bo innovation class graduate students should be in under the guidance of a mentor within two weeks after admission to develop training plan, the fifth semester before the end according to the South China University of technology PhD research student assessment Interim Measures "in the mid-term examination and complete the (SOCIAL) teaching practice link. The practice link teaching (SOCIAL) include: assist the instructors teach (or guidance) undergraduate or graduate courses, the teaching practice of guiding undergraduate or graduate students scientific research or academic dissertation, or as the main research personnel to participate in industry research, production practice and social practice. The innovation class of students in school should participate in more than 20 times (including cross disciplines of not less than 3 times) of academic activities, and every time should fill out the "study of South China University of technology students participate in academic (Lecture) examination table", of which at least 5 times attached no less than 1500 words by the instructor signed the summary of word recognition. The innovation class graduate students to participate in international academic conferences held outside the world, and the first signed by the South China University of Technology, I was the first author of the paper published in English, can be regarded as attending the 5 academic report. The Bo innovation class graduate students should be under the guidance of Tutor (Steering Group), in front of the mid-term assessment completed literature review (more than 8000 words) and Bernal, literature reading quantity of not less than 100, which English literature not less than 50. The innovation class of students in undergraduate year 4, in under the guidance of a mentor, the - Bo through the innovation and practice, will graduate design, extracurricular scientific and technological practice link and research phase of the research direction of convergence; doctoral dissertation research work time shall not be less than 2 years. In application of degree thesis defense, should be made with the discipline and research related academic papers, academic papers published in accordance with the requirements of the South China University of technology on doctoral students for the degree of published academic papers of the rules "file execution. After completing the thesis, according to the relevant provisions of the South China University of Technology on graduate student application degree, the organization of defense. Training objectives

Aimed to cultivate versatile development of morality, wisdom and physique and master solid basic theory and systematic expertise knowledge of machinery discipline. Students need to possess excellent scientific creativity and strong independent working ability and international communication which can drive innovative talents and leading talents. Students should be acquainted with the discipline-related developmental directions and be able to grasp a foreign language and modernized experimental computer technologies. Also, students need to be competent in scientific research, technological breakthrough pursuit, project management and teaching work in mechanical engineering and multidisciplinary areas.

Training modes

This master innovation class graduate student training to implement the Tutor (Guidance Group) responsible for the system, under the guidance of the tutor to complete the scientific research and academic degree thesis. The master class innovation of students should be in under the guidance of a mentor within two weeks after admission to develop training plan in the third semester before the end in accordance with the "China South China University of Technology Master's degree graduate metaphase screening a triage approach" in the mid-term examination, and complete the (SOCIAL) teaching practice link. The practice link teaching (SOCIAL) include: assist the instructors teach (or guidance) undergraduate curriculum and the instruction of undergraduate scientific research or academic dissertation teaching practice, or as the main researchers in industry research, production practice and social practice. The master class innovation research students in reading should participate in more than 10 times (including twice for cross second level discipline) academic report will, every time should fill in "South China University of technology research students participate in academic (Lecture) examination table", of which at least 3 times attached no less than 1500 words by the signature of the supervisor approval summary. The master class innovation graduate students to participate in in English as the working language of the international academic conference, and to South China University of technology for the undersigned, I first author and mentor as first author, I am the second author): the visual for 5 times academic report. After the opening, a phase of research progress report at least every semester.

Dissertation work

Postgraduates of Bachelor-Master innovation classes in mechanical engineering are required to bachelor-master innovative practice in the 4th undergraduate school year under the guidance of supervisors, and they need to connect undergraduate graduation design, extracurricular technological segments and research directions in postgraduate phase. Postgraduates should draw up dissertation plan in 11th to 20th week of the 3rd semester and compose literature review reports (more than 5000 words) and opening report, and they need to read no less than 50 literatures which contains no less than 25 English literatures. Before applying dissertation defense, students need to publish at least 1 paper or patent whose first undersigned unit is South China University of Technology and the first author is the postgraduate candidates name (or the supervisor is the first author and the student is the second). Furthermore, the content of the paper must be the research result of the dissertation and the paper must be published or employed in nuclear journals or higher journals, or be included by SCI, EI and ISTP. After finishing dissertations, students are organized to participate in dissertation defense according to Provisional rules of degree regulations of South China University of Technology and Stipulations on applying degree for postgraduates in South China University of Technology. Apart from implementing dissertation-related stipulations of our campus, these dissertations should comply with specific quality requirements of theses including scientificity, technicality, innovation and standardability and so on.
