These plots show the maximum overlap between our aligned spin BNS bank and the same set of simulations as above The bank works for spin-aligned BNS systems! A small fraction of precessing systems are recovered with overlaps less than 0.97. The extent of the third dimension is small enough to use standard 2D hexagonal placement! Templates here stacked a few deep in 3 rd direction. This template bank contains 500,000 templates, six times larger than the non-spinning template bank. Fitting Factor (FF) = max (bank) Using the 2020 Advanced LIGO noise curve, fitting factors were calculated between: The templates used in the standard non-spinning CBC search SpinTaylorT4 precessing waveforms, uniformly distributed in masses, sky location, orientation, and spin magnitudes up to 0.4 for both neutron stars. aLIGO PSD – Spin Aligned BNS Injections Express in terms of chirp times, using GW phase to 3.5PN order with the leading order spin-orbit and spin-spin corrections. Calculate a metric using the chirp times as coordinates. This results in an 8x8 metric that is globally flat. Orthonormalize the coordinate system: Metric is Cartesian. Rotate to the principal coordinates. The dominant direction is related to the chirp mass. The second direction combines eta with the dominant spin effect. The least significant 5 directions are negligibly small.
