Bersihkan kedua permukaan pengukur dengan baik
Sebelum pengukuran dimulai pastikan angka “nol” pada thimble sesuai dengan garis referensi pada outer sleeve, jika tidak lakukan setting
Selalu gunakan ring pemberhenti (rachet stop) ketika melakukan pengukuran
Pada pengukuran yang berulang-ulang, tempatkanlah pada alat dudukan mikrometer (mikrometer stand). Jepitlah rangka mikrometer sedemikian rupa sehingga tidak menggangu pengukuran maupun terhindar dari mikrometer jatuh

Jangan sekali-kali memaju-mundurkan spindle dengan memutar-mutar rangkanya
Membersihkan peralatan sebelum dan setelah selesai dipergunakan
Melapisi peralatan dengan oli apabila tidak dipergunakan untuk jangka waktu yang lama
Ketika akan menyimpan alat ukur usahakan jarak antara permukaan alat ukur diberi celah 0,1 ~ 1 mm
