Tel:01579 384100. Email britishlopsecretary@gmail.com The British Lop is the rarest of all native pig breeds and is top of the RBST endangered list. There were only 81 boars and 383 sows and gilts alive in the survey carried out at the end of 2012. Given this situation, and the current market, it is a credit to the breed and to the members that they have managed to produced so many top quality breeding pigs for this show and sale. All pigs entered are fully registered with the Society. The finals of the ‘Lop of the Year’ Competition 2013 will be held at this event and most of the qualifiers are for sale, providing an excellent opportunity to acquire show quality pigs. All pigs will be inspected by 2 British Lop Judges on arrival The event will be run under National Pig Auction Rules. The Association maintains the pedigree herdbooks for Berkshire, British Saddleback, Duroc, Gloucestershire Old Spots, Hampshire, Large Black, Landrace, Large White, Mangalitza, Middle White, Oxford Sandy & Black, Pietrain, Tamworth and Welsh. WELSH CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS The winner of the Welsh Champion of Champions will receive a cheque for £300, a cup, sash and rosette. The reserve will be awarded a cheque for £200, a sash and a rosette. A new perpetual plate will be presented in memory of the Late Christine Vaughan to the member who has attained the most showing points over the year from the above shows. The total number of showing points gained from all pigs shown by the member, at each of the shows from the list, will be added up. The member with the highest number of points over the season will win the award.
