RECCO® Avalanche Rescue System RECCO is an avalanche rescue system utilized by more than 600 rescue organizations worldwide to assist in the efficient location of avalanche victims. RECCO technology enables the rapid directional pinpointing of a victim’s precise location using harmonic radar. The two-part system consists of a RECCO detector used by organized rescue groups, and RECCO reflectors that are integrated into select boots in the Vans line. The reflector is permanently affixed, requires no training for use, and needs no batteries to function.

Footbeds serve a critical role in providing the right balance of mechanical support and dampening for the bone structure of your foot. After all, it’s what you’re going to be standing and landing on all day while you’re riding. Good fit, feel, support, and comfort starts from the bottom up … which is why we have always focused on providing quality footbeds with every Vans boot.

LINERS

With our long history of building footwear, we know a thing or two about fit. Since the beginning, we have focused on developing liners that are ergonomically engineered and provide custom fit capabilities.

New for this season, we have refined our X-Cage shape to accommodate a wider range of foot shapes, while still providing a nailed-in heel hold. The asymmetrical shape works in conjunction with the bone and ligament structure of the ankle and lower leg areas to create an anatomically sound and supportive fit. We’ve also developed a seamless construction in the toe area of each liner so you get all the benefit of the Comfort Flex toe box without the feeling of any seams. We’ve increased the cuff thickness on our liners for added comfort and to better complement our shell construction.

VANS BOA® LACING SYSTEMSIt seems lacing systems have been all the rage the last few seasons. Ever since we introduced the first Boa boot 10 years ago it changed the game. There are certainly plenty of lacing system options available to choose from but unfortunately many of them don’t offer much of a benefit over traditional laces. Don’t settle for less. When deciding on which lacing system to choose ask yourself if it provides better performance and fit or is it just another marketing gimmick? Quite simply put, no other lacing system delivers the versatility and performance benefits that the Boa System provides. There truly is no substitute. This season we’ve rolled out several new Boa configurations to ensure there is a boot for every rider preference. 1 zone, 2 zone, 3 zone … you decide.

BOA FOCUSFeatured on the Cirro and Veil boots, two reels operate 3 zones of closure for the ultimate in custom closure adjustment.

DOUBLE BOAFeatured on the Aura boot, two reels control 2 zones of closure and eliminate instep components for greater freedom of flex and articulation.

BOA POWER CUFFFeatured on the Matlock and Kira boots, the Power Strap controls upper closure while the remote side-mounted Boa reel controls the instep and forefoot closure. Two easy and quick-to-adjust systems combine for the best of both worlds.

BOA REGULATORFeatured on the Fargo®, the Boa laces run from the side-mounted reel and enter through the instep, pulling from the center of the system rather than the top of the tongue. The 2011 Cirro comes equipped with an all-new heat-moldable liner with adjustable fit pads which, along with the new Focus System, allows riders to achieve the ultimate custom fit.
