So THATS where Hereford is, Santa said as he picked up his map. Ive had so many letters from the good boys and girls who live there that Ive made my decision. Im visiting Hereford first for Christmas this year.

The elves erupted in applause, anxious to get this years Christmas trip started. They watched Santa pack his bags with toys, then helped Santa load them on his sleigh and leave the North Pole. Amid all the excitement, the elves didnt see that one lonely bolt had fallen off of Santas sleigh.

Santa flew as fast as his reindeer could take him. Soon he was close to Hereford he could even see Caviness Packing and Oskterkamp Dairy but as he was flying over Parkside Chapel something felt wrong on the sleigh as he started to land. Nooooo! Santa shouted as he held tight to the reins. His sleigh started to shake like a freight train as it flew over McCaslin Lumber, then veered to the side over Litho-Graphics, and..WHAM!.... crashed outside the Deaf Smith Chamber of Commerce.

The townspeople were just getting into bed when they heard the awful noise. They were afraid Panhandle Pallets might have exploded, or maybe a plane had crashed definitely something BIG had happened. They rushed to their windows to see what had happened.

The owner of Panhandle Concrete was the first to see what had happened and quickly called the police to check it out. The police couldnt believe what they discovered. There was a mangled sleigh, several bruised reindeer, and toys scattered all the way from Touch of Ink to Pickup Corner. And there, in the middle of it all, slumped beside the sleigh, was Santa himself with a big bump on his forehead, and his suit ripped.

The police officers rushed to help Santa. Oh what have I done? Santa said. I crashed on my very first stop! If I dont get help soon, children all over the world are going to wake up disappointed. He looked around at the wreckage the scattered toys, the limping reindeer and lowered his head.

Soon more people from Hereford were showing up at the scene, determined to do something about it. Santa I can help you with your sleigh, said a mechanic. Hereford Wrecker Service quickly towed the sleigh to the Hereford Brand parking lot so that everyone could have a central location for everyone to help.

Other people from Hereford were helping, too. I will get to work on the sleigh said the owner of Hereford Welding. I will rewrap the gifts and replace the damaged clothing gifts said the owner of Cary Anns. I will also help with the damaged gifts said the owner of WH TV and Appliance. I will repair Santas suit and fix his boots said the manager of Bealls and the owner of Warrick Shoe Service. Tortilleria El Sol provided food and drinks for Santa and the reindeer. They worked and worked until Santa was ready to fly again!

I knew Hereford was a great town, Santa said, but I had no idea you could be so helpful and kind. You are showing what the spirit of Christmas really means caring for others. He looked at his now repaired watch. Good heavens! I have got a lot of stops to make tonight, but I think I can finish on time. Thank you Hereford!

A Merry Christmas to all and all a Happy Holidays!

As the owners of WT Services Radio Shop and Warner Seeds were helping Santa load the last packages on his sleigh, R&M Electrical were putting the final touches on his sleigh. The local people watched as the State Farm Agent put on the last package and quickly Santa took off into the night sky. A hearty ho, ho, ho echoed through the streets as he flew over R&R Machine and Welding, then stopped quickly at every house in town to deliver his gifts. From then on Santa would make Hereford his first stop every Christmas Eve.

Because Santa will never forget how Hereford saved Christmas!
