Ergonomic controls.The instrument cluster inthe Actros offersunsurpassed layout andreadability with practicallyno reflections. Analogue anddigital displays deliverclear, concise informationon speed, engine revs, fuellevel and braking pressure.The user-friendly driverinformation system is

operated using buttons onthe steering wheel, enablingdrivers to adjust settingsand conduct diagnosticfunctions easily whiledisplaying information on alarge dot-matrix screen. Andthe Telligent® gearshiftlever is located on a fold-upconsole on the left side ofthe driver’s seat for addedcomfort and convenience.

Deluxe seat.The AGR-certified luxurysuspension seat featurespneumatic lumbar support,side contour adjustment andseat heating. Both the angleand length of the seatcushion are fully adjustable,plus the backrest includesan integral head restraintand 3-point seat belt forextra safety.

The driver’s cab: the workplace, operating convenience

Spacious cabs.L-cabs feature standard-fitair-sprung suspension seat,air conditioning, spring-coremattress, ample stowage, a flat surface for a coffee

machine and a top qualityfinish. Megaspace Cabscome with a high roof, a level floor, stowagecompartments in theinstrument panel, above the

windscreen and under thebed, an AGR-certifiedsuspension seat as standard,plus a wide, single-piecespring-core mattress.

Multifunction steering wheel.The multifunction steeringwheel enables drivers tooperate the radio, telephoneand driver informationsystem without even havingto take their hands off thewheel. The new settings aredisplayed in the instrumentcluster. The buttons can alsobe used to call up

operational and serviceinformation. Plus thepneumatic steering wheelcan be adjusted up to 66mm in height and from10-42° in tilt.

Up to 200% more stowage.Megaspace and high roof L-cabs feature spaciousabove-windscreen stowagecompartments with optionalhinged lids and interiorlighting, as well as anoptional 13-litre anti-theftvaluables compartment.Under-bunk storagecompartments featureinternal and external access.

For drivers travelling withhealthy drinks and snacks,we included an optional 25lt roll-out cooler boxwhich keeps contents at a cool 5°C.

Engine Technology

Smart design lets you pull more.When we say the Actros hasbeen redesigned from theground up, we mean it.Tyres, axles, frame,transmission — all have

been re-engineered tooptimise performance.Frame improvementsinclude replacing headframe rivets with bolts so it’s easier to exchangeparts during repair.

The front underrideprotection has been loweredand the headlamps havebeen moved further up toreduce the risk of chipping.

Most importantly, on 4x2sour optional integral rearsection (standard withMegaspace cabs) has freedup substantial room toattach components likeextra fuel tanks, hydraulicpumps and compressors.And the twin bellows airsuspension further reducesweight by 30kg and allowsfor a number of designenhancements that improvehandling dynamics andbody roll.

The Actros variants withsteel suspension use weight-optimised parabolic springswith maintenance-freerubber molecular bearings.In addition, all variants arefitted as standard with shockabsorbers and front and rearaxle stabilisers. The leafsuspension is protectedagainst corrosion, whichmakes an essentialcontribution to the longservice life of the suspensionsystem as a whole.

Load up easily, drive safely.The standard-fit Telligent®level control allows theframe to be raised andlowered. In trucks with an air-sprung rear axle,semitrailers or inter-changeable systems can be attached and detachedquickly and easily.Telligent® roll control, anoption for platform truckswith full air suspension,offers yet more comfort. It enhances driving safety,and preserves both thevehicle and delicate loads, by continually adjusting the damper settings to theroad conditions, load anddriving situation.

Powerful engines give you more pull.You can choose from fiveoutput classes of the Actros500-series V6 engine,ranging from 265kW(320hp) to 320kW (435hp).There are two versions of the V8 ranging from 370kW (503hp) to 395kW(540hp). Depending onwhich configuration you

choose, the new Actrosdelivers up to 10% morepower and up to 8.1% greater torque.In addition to gains inpower, Actros engines arenow more durable thanever. Modifications to theengines have eased thermalload on the pistons. Higher strength inlet valvesand seat rings allow the

valve setting intervals to beextended. The crankcasebreather features animproved oil separator. And the compact generatorsand starter motor have both been designed for alonger service life.

Telligent® gear shifting.With our Telligent®gearshifts as standardequipment, the Actros makesshifting effortless. Ergonomicpositioning on the driver’sseat enables drivers tocomfortably shift while stillconcentrating on the road.

To shift a gear, all the driver has to do is nudge the lever forwards orbackwards, then press theclutch pedal. The selectedgear is then displayed in the instrument cluster.

Changing gear is evensimpler with the Telligent®automated gearshift option,which is precise andconsistent enough to reduce fuel consumption as well as wear and tear on the powertrain.

Telligent® engine control.The revolutionary Telligent®electronic enginemanagement system adjuststhe injection of fuel withextreme precision to suit thedriving situation. Thisoptimised injection strategy,coupled with an injectionpressure of up to 1800 bar,results in outstanding mixturepreparation and efficiency.

Telligent® maintenance.The Telligent® maintenancesystem schedules serviceintervals according to theactual wear and tear on avehicle. For instance, everysingle cold start is recorded.The condition of the engineoil and all major assemblyoils, as well as the coolantlevel are monitoredconstantly. The system also

shows when air or fuel filtersneed to be changed andindicates brake pad wear. As a result, servicing andrepairs can be scheduledmore efficiently and moreeffectively, thus reducingdowntime. And daily checkscan be carried out quicklyand easily from the comfortof the cabin, saving valuabletime every morning.

Built-in passive safety features.In addition to optimalpositioning of controls andlarger windows for improvedvisibility, Actros also featuresas optional new clear-lens and xenon headlamps forunbeatable road illumination,heated exterior mirrors toprevent fogging and groovedchannels in the wings to mini-mise spray from wet roads.

Telligent® active safety innovations.Actros also offers a range of standard and optionalactive safety systems thatcan substantially reduce the risks of long-distancedriving. The Telligent®braking system is standardand includes ABS and ASR(traction control), as well as internally ventilated disc brakes and 10-bar

permanent brake pressurefor outstanding stoppingpower. The system alsofeatures Brake Assist, which boosts braking power in emergencies and a hill holder function which prevents forward or backward rolling.
