Micronesia presentation by Guam at Miami Cruise Conference (March 2010) in Miami, FloridaRecommend to create a “Micronesia Cruise Association”Purpose – To learn about the leisure cruise market
and collaborate regionally in its development;
– To define the unique appeal of each island destination
– To develop industry networking and productive relationships between island destinations and cruise companies
– To develop a marketing and development strategy that harmonizes the region’s regulatory environment, maritime security, and cost structure

Guam Micronesia Island Fair October 15 – 17, 2010
“Celebrating the Tastes of Micronesia”The Guam Micronesia Island Fair is an annual international eventcoordinated by the Guam Visitors Bureau that showcases the cultures of Guam and Micronesia, bringing together entrepreneurs, manufacturers, traditional artists, cultural performers, the national tourism offices of each Island Nation, island residents and visitors to Guam.

Thank you to MCES for the leadership support to Micronesia’stourism industry. This has resulted to the chapter’s recognition of receiving the PATA Award of Excellence2010 out of 39 chapters worldwide.
- Recognizing the intelligent use of socialmedia and marketing of Micronesia
- Consistent Regional promotions- Commitment to industry training- Solid progress with island destination e-guides
1. Climate Change – education, awareness and adaptation of the threat to the region- “Go Green” Campaign
- Recycle goods (bags, lunch boxes, etc.)- Energy efficiency- Water conservation- Education programs- Carbon Emission
- Awareness Campaign – invite experts on climate change (example Mr. Lory Tan World Wildlife Fund in Philippines for Chapter Meeting in Guam on December 2010

2. World Heritage Sites – encourage government partnership in identifying sites for nominations
3. Economic Impact & Tourism Satellite Account Perspective by Global Insights – Measures the tourism impact (value) within the community. For example, Guam Satellite Account showed the following:
For every $76,000 in additional visitor spending, one job on Guam is created
GVB returns $82 in spending for every $1 in their budget
GVB returns $10 in taxes for every $1 in their budget
