From The Desk of Father MacFrom The Desk of Father Mac I am
pleased to announce that the installation of our new heating and
air-conditioning system in the church is finally complete. This was
a long and painstaking process as the old a/c units had to be
dismantled and removed before the new units could be installed. We
also had to replace some piping and ductwork and make some
electrical upgrades. The installation was performed by our
long-time heating/AC contractor E.L. Payne Company. As of this
writing, we are still waiting on an invoice for the final
installment payment, but the total cost of the project was around
$160,000. This project was completely paid for with funds raised in
the Called to Renew Capital Campaign which we conducted in 2018. As
you may recall, our fundraising goal for Called to Renew was
$1,000,000, with half of the funds to remain here in the parish and
the other half to support our local church here in Los Angeles. We
exceeded our goal, taking in $1,216,206 in one-time gifts and
pledges. My deep thanks to all those who contributed to this
im-portant effort to strengthen our parish and the local church
here in Los Angeles. It is thanks to your sacrifices that we were
able to complete this heating and air-conditioning project which
will greatly improve our parish by providing a more comfortable
church in which to worship. Several families have already completed
their pledge com-mitment to the Called to Renew campaign. I offer
you my deepest gratitude. Your sacrifices made it possible for us
to complete the installation of our new heating and
air-conditioning system which was sorely needed. We still have
other projects on our Called to Renew “wish list” including: roof
repairs, rectory improvements, sound system upgrades, and
improvements to our modular class-rooms. Our ability to complete
these projects depends upon our donors honoring their pledge
commitments. If you made a pledge to Called to Renew but have not
com-pleted your commitment, I humbly ask that you continue making
timely payments toward your pledge commitment so that we have the
funds necessary to complete our other parish projects. Our future
success depends on you! As funds become available through Called to
Renew, we will work to complete the other projects on our wish
list. The next project we plan to complete is the roof repairs on
the church. We will keep you posted on our progress. If you didn’t
participate in the Called to Renew campaign, it is not too late!
You can pick up a pledge envelope in one of the literature racks at
the church exits or contact the parish office to find out how to
make a pledge or one-time gift.

FULLY RELY ON GOD (FROGS) our ‘little church’ program for
children, will meet this Sunday, Janu-ary 19th and Sunday, February
2nd at the 10 am Mass. Why not become a FROGs volunteer
teacher?

CANDLELIGHT ROSARY AND PRAYER GROUP meets on Mondays (except
holidays) at 7pm in front of the altar of our Lady near the west
doors of church. Please consider joining us for this special
devotion.
OASIS SENIOR PROGRAM needs volunteers like you! You can help
make a difference in the life of a housebound senior. OASIS
volunteers pro-vide friendly visits weekly to help with shopping,
errands, appointments and sharing JOY! If you are interest-ed in

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2020 is next month! The Ca-thedral of Our
Lady of the Angels and the Los Angeles chap-ter of the Order of
Malta will host a special healing mass on Saturday, February 8th,
at 12:30pm. It will include the anointing of the sick and the
blessing of caregivers. Arch-bishop Jose Gomez will preside and
Bishop Marc Trudeau will be the Homilist. Attendees will receive
holy water from Lourdes and a commemorative prayer card. Please
save the date.
Pilgrimage to Medjugorje and Greece
