The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), a nonprofit corporation created in 1999, works in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) to promote the social economic development of young people around the world. YABT is an organization of young people for young people.
YABT advances the goals of the OAS and the Summits of the Americas by promoting and implementing programs for entrepreneurship in the Americas and elsewhere as a mean to fight poverty and create job opportunities for young people, both in-schools and universities, as well as looking for work..
The vision of YABT is that the talent of young entrepreneurs in the Ameri-cas will determine the Hemisphere’s potential for future economic growth and democratic stability. YABT believes that the region’s young creative people offer the best prospect for building the Americas of all our dreams. Reality reminds us that only training and investment in young people today will build this tomorrow.

In 2009, YABT and PepsiCo developed a partnership that led to the introduction of an environmental award, the Eco-Challenge, to the annual Talent and Innovation Competi-tion of the Americas. PepiCo and YABT’s goal is to to promote innovative ideas to resolve environmental problems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Eco-Challenge Awards in TIC Americas 2010 focused on creating water conservation awareness and innovative water solutions, both educational and practical. The Eco-Challenge 2011 expanded the traditional water conservation award to the following: Identify an idea or a social entrepreneurial project under development that offers a viable solution for the environment conservation.
