EMBASSY SUITES IN NORMAN

All women of the Archdiocese are invited to hear inspiration and motivational speakers at this 13th Annual Conference.

Reconciliation, vendors and a silent auction will also be available. The conference will begin at 8:30 am and conclude with a Mass at 4:30 pm with Archbishop Coakley. The registration fee is $65 through March 1, when it will increase to $75. Registrations can be submitted on the conference website (www.OCWConference.com). Registrations may also be submitted by mail, or by using the form found on the web site. Special room rates are available at the Embassy Suites by calling 866-577-1273 using the group code OCW. .

For many years countless children were baptized by well intentioned parents who were ill-prepared to raise them in the faith of the church. This resulted in large numbers of non-practicing Catholics. This program has been designed for parish parents who want their children to grow up as faithful followers of Christ in the Catholic Tradition. First time godparents may also attend but are not required to do so. If you are seeking to practice your faith here at St. Andrew’s and want to prepare to baptize a child, call Ann Grover at 799-3334 to let her know you are coming.

2020 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE

WORLD

This appeal funds the day to day operations and mission of the entire Archdiocese. Archbishop Coakley would like all faithful Catholics to begin thinking about what measure of support you will be able to make this year when you receive a pledge envelope. This appeal is distinct from the One Church, Many Disciples capital campaign.

SACRIFICIAL GIVING

What kind of giving is considered sacrificial? It’s the kind

that families do daily when it comes to taking good care of

each other. It often involves some pain or self-denial. It’s not

that different when it comes to our parish family. We take

good care of each other by contributing our fair share to fund

the missionary and operational expenses of the church. We

give not from what is left over, but from all that we have. We

give out of gratitude more than obligation. Have you

reviewed your sacrificial giving recently? Might it be time to

do so?

JANUARY FINANCIAL SUMMARY

REVENUE: Sacrificial Giving $ 55,237 Charity (Poor Box, Pac-A-Sac) 3,039 Building Fund 6,721 Other Income 5,599 TOTAL INCOME: $ 70,596 TOTAL EXPENSES: 104,096 NET REVENUE: $ ( 33,500)

PASTORAL LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

The Council met on February 22nd in the Youth Building. The meeting began with prayer, a reading from the Gospel of Matthew, and faith sharing.

The following items were presented and discussed: The city approved our building permit for the new addition to the youth building. The trees have been removed and a crew has begun preparing the sight (dirt work, leveling the ground, etc.)

We have received the first portion of the 20% of our “One Church, Many Disciples” campaign goal of $860,000 which amounts to $65,000. This is part of the money that will be available for the construction of the new addition to the youth building.

We are still running about $12K behind in Sacrificial Giving for the FY that began on July 1st.

However, for the calendar year which began on January 1 until last weekend we are about $4K Ahead of last year.

A long discussion followed regarding the status of our seven standing Commissions (Evangelization, Worship & Spiritual Life, Parish Life, Community Outreach, Stewardship & Administration, Marriage & Family Life; Maintenance & Property). A number of them have not been functioning as envisioned and various members expressed opinions as to how this can be resolved. Each present commission chair will call a meeting to review their mission and to make whatever adjustments (times, places, and numbers of meetings) are required to recommit to it. The meeting ended with the selection of a new Chair (Pat Jaques) and Co-Chair (Marva Yandell); and the setting of dates and times of meetings for the rest of the year.

YOUTH MINISTRY RENEWAL UNDERWAY

We are in the process of re-imagining and re-structuring how we “do” youth ministry at St. Andrew’s. To that end Mike Jaques and Lynn Yingling have agreed to serve as Coordinators of Ministry To, By, With, and For Youth and Young Adults. In short order we will also be forming a new Task Force for Youth and Young Adult Ministry comprised of parents and other adults who feel called to this service. It’s being called a task force to make clear that it is not just a committee that sits around talking about problems, but rather considers actions that need to be taken to address those problems.

LIFE NITES

WEDNESDAYS AT 7PM

All our Youth (High School and Middle school) are invited to gather for food at 7pm. Bring a snack to share. There is also an opportunity for prayer in St. Francis Chapel. Practice for Living Stations will be conducted every week and is already underway. This is a great opportunity for our youth to take part in a devotion that inspires the participation of so many parishioners during Lent.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING Sunday, March 1st at 10:30 am

in the McConnell room

Do you have a child attending discipleship formation classes? Do you use the nursery? Do you want to be able to work with the youth of our parish? We are always looking for parents or other volunteers who can help with classes, lead small groups with the youth, chaperone youth events or volunteer in the nursery. Recently, we’ve had to cancel some of our youth nights because of a lack of certified and willing adults. A principal requirement for any of these services is certification through the safe environment program. The training is short and to the point. Hope you can participate. Childcare will be available. Please contact Ann Grover to register or for more information.
