Purchase Order Books Why people volunteer?

Emotional: because they care and want to help and receive a personal enjoy-

ment out of giving

Experience: fun, social interaction, seeing an outcome

Tangible: work experience, develop new skills, knowledge and a network of con-

tacts

One in three people would volunteer if asked but often not asked or unaware their

club needs volunteers.

Barriers/ Challenges to Volunteering:

Lack of structure and communication

Poor support in being shown how the job can be done

Perception of time requirements being too much

Fear of being criticised

Lack of empowerment to use own initiative to do the job

No job description or flow chart to define who does what

Stay tuned next year as the Committee Focus newsletter

completes its own transition, to the Volunteer Focus newsletter!
