JAMMU, May 15: All IndiaBackward Classes Union, Social(AIBCUS) has raised the issue ofreservation for the State OBCsand appealed the Prime Ministerto urge the State Chief Ministerto implement the MandalCommission report in State.
The meeting said that Dr Udit
Raj, MP while raising the issue ofSC/ST reservation and made theCentre Government aware thathow the State Government isplanning for diluting the ST sta-tus of STs. The new recruitmentpolicy on which BJP Ministersare silent only speaks of the crim-inal conspiracy against the reser-vation categories.
The meeting was held underits president Abdul Majid Malikin which participants and speak-ers complimented MP Dr UditRaj who came in fore front in theParliament to diffuse the nefari-ous thought designed by StateGovernment.

JAMMU, May 15: BJP MLAfrom Kathua and Party generalsecretary Rajiv Jasrotia along withBJP Prabhari for Samba district,Aseem Gupta called on ChiefMinister Mufti MohammadSayeed today and apprised him ofthe various problems of the people.
The two leaders while appris-ing the CM of the problems beingfaced by the farmers said that thefarmers of Jammu region havebeen put to heavy loss as theirentire Rabi crop was damaged dueto recent heavy rains.
They demanded that the loss beassessed by the joint teams of rev-enue and Agriculture Departmentsand the farmers be paid early com-
pensation for the same so that theirfuture is secured. The problemsbeing faced by the people due tobad condition of roads, waterscarcity and power cuts were alsodiscussed with the CM and the twoleaders stressed on creation of sucha mechanism so that an everlastingsolution is found to these prob-lems.
They demanded that both longterm and short term policies shouldbe adopted to solve the power cur-tailment, water scarcity and otherproblems.
They demanded that immedi-ate steps be taken for restoration ofroads so that the people arerelieved of the problems. Besides along term policy be adopted towiden the narrow roads.

JAMMU, May 15: The man-agement of DAV Public SchoolSrinagar has warned against thereported move of Administrationand some vested elements to grabthe School property and said thatthe property is owned by DAVand it is the prestigious instituteof the State owned possessed andrun by SDM Arya Samaj, WazirBagh, Srinagar in KashmirValley.
The management while com-menting on recent reports saidthat any such move will provecounter productive as entire DAV
fraternity all over the country isshocked over the delay in grantof permission to the managementfor construction and repairs to theinstitute which was damaged bylast year heavy rains and floods.
They said the present dispen-sation is hell bent to destroy theminority institution which willnot allowed to happen at anycost.
The entire KP communityand the DAV fraternity isshocked over the irresponsiblestatements made by certain ele-ments within Administration andoutside regarding the institute,the management said.

2 killed, 2 injured as
tipper plunges into gorgeExcelsior Correspondent
RAJOURI, May 15: Twopersons were killed and twoothers got seriously injuredwhen the tipper they weretraveling in skidded off theroad and rolled down into adeep gorge near Pathan Morhain Dassal area late tonight.
As per police sources, abricks laden tipper bearingregistration number JK11-2085 on its way to villageKraeya from Rajouri rolleddown into gorge near PathanMorha in Dassal area latetonight, resulting into death oftwo persons and injuries totwo others.
After getting information,police team led by SI Jehangirand locals rushed to the spotand started rescue operation.Army was also called on forthe rescue operation.
The bodies of the deceasedpersons were retrieved andshifted to District Hospital,Rajouri. Two injured personswere also rescued and shiftedto DH Rajouri, where theywere undergoing treatment,when reports last came in.
The deceased have beenidentified as Sanjay Kumar,
son of Puran Chand andSuresh Kumar, son of Sat Pal,both residents of villageKraeya.
The injured have beenidentified as Sohan Lal andNeetu Kumar, both residentsof village Kraeya.
A case in this regard hasbeen registered and investiga-tion started.
BSF foils intrusion

JAMMU, May 15: Alerttroops of Border Security Force(BSF) today foiled an infiltrationbid along the InternationalBorder (IB) near Chor Gali inHiranagar sector of Kathua dis-trict.
"During wee hours, ourtroops noticed a suspiciousmovement near Chor GaliBorder Outpost in Hiranagar sec-tor of Kathua and opened firing,"official sources said.
They said that the troops firstfired six rounds of small armsand later of Light Machine Gun(LMG) on seeing the suspects.
"The suspects escaped fol-lowing firing by BSF," theyadded.
CMs panel on central schemes
to submit report by June 10NEW DELHI, May 15:
A panel of Chief Ministersworking on rationalisation ofCentrally-sponsored schemes(CSS) will submit its report tothe Government by June 10.
The sub-group of ChiefMinisters on the CSS willfinalise its draft recommenda-tions in the next meeting on May28 at Bhopal.
"We discussed the draftpaper on CSS scheme today. Wewill finalise recommendationson May 28. It will take about 10days to fine-tune recommenda-tions. We have decided to sub-mit report by June 10 (toCentre)," Madhya Pradesh ChiefMinister Shivraj Singh Chouhantold reporters here today.
Chouhan was briefed by theFinance Ministry officials on theimpact of increasing states'share in taxes to 42 per centfrom 32 per cent earlier as rec-
ommended by the 14th FinanceCommission.
The rationalisation ofCentrally-sponsored schemes isimportant as the Centre hasdecided to raise states' share intaxes to 42 per cent.
Rajasthan Chief MinisterVasundhara Raje was also pres-ent during the briefing by theFinance Ministry officials. Inearlier meeting of the sub-group,Raje had certain queries.
A source said that one of theStates had apprehensions thatunder new scheme of devolutionof funds between Centre andstates, it would lose as much asRs 6,000 crore.
"Some of states have said inthe previous meeting of the sub-group that the States would loseover Rs 55,000 crore in a fiscalafter rationalisation of CSS andincreasing their share in taxes to42 per cent," the source said.(PTI)
