2020面对困局的策略
Sure to Overtake, Recover All without Fail
1. Fear Leads People Away from God Fear will dissolve & swallow our faith in God. Fear will also cause us to leave God. Living in fear long term will cause our lives to have breaches, allowing the enemy to steal, kill and destroy.
A) Leaving the Promised Land (1 Sam. 27:1-3)
David’s faith towards God wavered because he was afraid that Saul would kill him. However, God would not put David into Saul’s hand, because God has anointed him through Samuel, promising that he will be the king of Israel. David was chased by Saul numerous times, but the hand of God was always upon David. Unfortunately, David chose to stay with the King of Gath, his heart turned towards man and left God. He chose to make the enemy of Israel his ally and chose the wrong covering. Fear caused David to make the wrong decision, going against the heart of God. He led the people following him and their families away from the Promised Land.
B) The Enemies Come to Loot and Plunder (1Sam. 30:1-3)
The leader of the Philistines did not believe David, they were afraid that during the battle he would change sides, so he stopped David and the people following him from entering the battle, sending them back to Ziklag. On the third day after they arrived at Ziklag, the city was plundered and burned. The people in the city were taken away, but not killed. The wives and children of David and the people following him were also taken away, together with their property. Due to David going against the heart of God and leaving the Promised Land, God destroyed the city of Ziklag through the hands of the Amalekites. David wanted to attack the people of God with the King of Achish, so God let him experience his family being taken away. However God is merciful, and He protected the lives of their families.
2. Turn Back to God and Be Redeemed
A) Bound to God (1 Sam.30:6-8) The people that followed him were in agony as their wives and children were taken away, so they pushed all responsibilities to David, even wanting to stone him to death. In this tough and painful moment, he turned towards God and chose to be bound to God once again.
B) Rely on God to Take It Back (1 Sam. 30:9-10, 17-19)
David received the promises of God and immediately took action to respond, bringing the people following him to go after the enemies. Even though midway there were 200 people refusing to continue forward due to fatigue, David did not stop for their weaknesses. He believed in the promises of God and kept on going. In the journey, they met an Egyptian youth coincidentally, and this Egyptian youth brought David to the enemy’s camp. At this moment, God entered supernaturally, allowing David and the 400 tired army to win against the Amalekites. God fulfilled His promise to David, and that is that he would be able to go against the enemies and redeem all the properties and families, and not one will be left out. ■ [This sermon message was delivered on Sep 06, 2020. From Rosh Hashanah to Sukkot 14-Day Prayers and Fasting:
Personal Lives
1) Repent for Individual Lives: We must humbly come to God to cleanse
ourselves, and remove all the bitterness, hatred, anger, clamor, slander,
jealousy, and all malice from our hearts; and we must choose to forgive, just as
God has forgave us in Christ. May God's healing be upon us and make us his
holy vessels again.
2) Rededicate Ourselves to God: If in the past year, we have deviated from God in
any area, or replace God’s first place in our lives with other people and things,
let us once again set the priority of our lives and renew our resolve to do our
best. Love our God with all our hearts, our souls and strength, and obey Him!
3) Restore Relationship with the Heavenly Father: We come to meditate on the
moment God breathed on us, return to our intimate relationship with Him, and
receive the filling of His Holy Spirit again. The Heavenly Father is coming to call
us by name, each of which is unique and carries God's destiny in our lives.
Marriage and Family
1) Cleanse and Offer Up Our Families: Today, we will bring our family (or on
behalf of them) to come to God, renew our resolve to dedicate our marriage
and family to God, and declare that as for me and my family, we must serve the
Lord! We also ask the Lord to cleanse the altar of our families, and to remove
all the sins and curses of me and my father's house by the blood of the lamb.
2) Holy Marriage, Holy Bride: Brothers and sisters, as we enter into Rosh
Hashanah, we are also entering into a New Year and season. Let us resolve to
be the holy bride of Jesus, dedicated to God. We ask God to transform our
marriages to receive God's grace of renewal and restoration. The husband rises
up to confess, shoulder and cover; the wife is thankful and expresses
willingness to submit to her husband's authority. Pray for the Lord to set up a
holy fire wall for our marriages to remove all the breaches. Those who are
single can meditate on the love of Jesus and ask God to prepare our lives for
marriage and to become the bride of Jesus.
