Like all musicians, Ive lugged amps up plenty of stairways, had to perform on cramped stages, been hin-dered with inadequate power, and been frustrated with unreliable gear. Gallien-Krueger is largely aresponse to these life experiences.

Being a Stanford educated engineer who worked his way through school as a musician, I understandthese problems. As Gallien-Kruegers director and principal innovator, I have always strived to designand build amplifiers that meet the real needs of working bass players: practical, reliable, portable, power-ful, affordable, and most importantly, producing the sound and the response players need to make their best music.

I am proud of the reputation GK enjoys in the bass world. I am also proud of the many ways weveimproved our amps over the years. GK has been focused on, and will always be focused on, creatingreal, substantive, innovative design refinements that yield improved sound, power, reliability, and function-ality.

Our 2003 product line is our best ever. Just as our 800RB amplifier has set the standard for large-venueamplification over the last two decades, our new products will set the standard in professional bass ampperformance for years to come.

The Bi-Amp AdvantageMany players want a little growl in their sound, but due to horn distor-tion, it is hard to get good sounding overdrive from passive full-rangesystems. The 700RB-II, 1001RB-II, and 2001RB are bi-amped with a

separate 50W amp for driving the horn, so it doesnt distort when youdrive the amp hard. As a result, you can get all the growl you want fromyour lower speakers, while the horn stays clean and articulate. GKamplifiers have the horn control on the amp front panel, which makesmanaging your overall sound that much easier.

2001RB Dual Bi-amp(2 x 500W & 2 x 50W)Its the big gun, GKs candidate for the ultimate stage rig! This unit isbased on the bi-amp system from the 1001RB but with dual 540W wooferamps bridgeable to 1080W, two 50W horn amps, and two continuously vari-able speed fans for cooling. It gets the deep, floor-shaking, warm soundthat powers reggae bands. For rock players, it features a special designdistortion circuit that lets you quickly dial in the perfect growl and drive.

For funk players, its voicing filters and bi-amp controls let you scoop themids and add the perfect high-end edge needed for popping. For any styleof music performed on arena stages, the 2001RB is destined to be the pre-mier amp of choice.

2001RB Di stor tio n Cir cui tThe secret to the 2001RBs smooth natural distortion is that the horn ampis automatically muted when the high gain channel is activated, thus pre-venting any raspy distortion from the horns. The horn amps can also bemuted on the low gain channel as needed for certain blues sounds. Suchhorn muting is only possible with a bi-amp system, and only the 2001RBhas this circuitry design. Easy on-stage control is provided by a three but-ton footswitch, which mutes the horns, selects channel A or B, and alsoactivates the tuning mute.

2001RB Mic ropr oce ssorSystem ManagerAn 8-bit microprocessor constantly monitorsthe 2001RB system, making sure everything isrunning correctly. It waits patiently for you topush the power switch, and then sends a sig-nal to your other GK power amps to turn themon in proper order. It begins with the transformer. We use toroids. Although they cost more, they dont induce huminto pickups. They are lightweight and really pack a punch. To generate the tremendous currentsneeded for cone control at high volume levels, we use extra output devices and sophisticated SOA

protection circuits. These too are more costly, but result in up to ten times more current thanother comparable amps deliver. So, when you really need to lean on it, a GK amp will deliverextreme power...effortlessly.

The Backline Combo puts the GK sound in its most affordable package ever, making it accessibleto many more players! The Backline combos carry on the legacy of the GK product line. TheBackline 210 and 115 are essentially the 400RB-IV design with the 2001RB distortion circuit. The

Backline 112 and Backline 110 are scaled down versions of the Backline 115. These two combosfeature the same distortion circuit as the Backline 115, a three band active EQ, and a switchablecontour control.
