Our 2006 red wine from our Voltz vineyard for the Limited Release
portfolio is a Bordeaux-style blend that developed into a wine of great
complexity. Fruity currant aromas, dark cherry flavor and velvety
tannins lead to a lush yet soft finish. This vintage is Estate Bottled,
illustrating yet another milestone by the Peter Mondavi, Sr. Family since
the start of the 1999 10-year vineyard renovation plan. Enjoy!
The 2006 growing season was preceeded by abundant rainfall
through April. In spite of much flooding in many vineyards, budbreak
showed overall quality, but near-record high temperatures in July
brought brix levels almost to a halt through the end of August. A late
harvest required extended hang time, but overall, the quality of the
fruit was good in spite of many weather extremes.

Our Peter Mondavi Family St. Helena Zinfandel balances the candied
fruit aroma, brown sugar and smoked meat flavors for an intense mouth-
feel. Integrated tannins and a smooth butterscotch finish make this an
absolutely yummy wine.
The 2008 growing season saw widespread frost damage and challeng-
ing summer conditions, which reduced yields and produced a lighter-
than-average vintage. A dry spring and a lengthy late April frost, the
coldest in more than three decades, were followed by three odd heat
waves before mid July, rain in some places, and high winds - all during
the critical bloom period. As a result, grapes were smaller, but more
concentrated. Despite a ‘crazy weather year’, wines produced in this
season were well-structured, elegant, and full of flavor.
