2009-2010 PRESIDENT: DOMINADOR “JOJO” G. CASTRO, JR.

2008 ACTIVITIES:

o Induction of the new set of officers was held at the Architectural Center Club (ACCI), Makati City on 1st of August 2008.

o Philippines Chapter held the successful hosting of the 11th held at the SMX Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines with Cesar Lim as CRC Chairman last 28-30 August 2008. There were a total of 102 paying delegates and 110 student delegates who attended the 11th CRC. Free WI-FI was freely available at no cost to all delegates during the duration of the CRC.

o A Food and Beverage Show occupying the whole ground floor of the SMX Center with focus on refrigeration coincided with the 11th CRC.

o Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas Party held December 5, 2008 at the ACCI, Makati City.

2009 ACTIVITIES:

o Attendance to the winter conference in Chicago by some officers of the Philippine chapter last 24-28 January 2009.

o Philippines Chapter hosted the visit of President-Elect and now President Gordon VR Holness last 26 February 2009 as a Distinguished Lecturer. He spoke on the topic “Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings and Building Information Modelling” at the ACCI Formoso Hall, Makati City.

o Immediate past president Mon Aguilos representing ASHRAE Philippines became a member of the Green Building Initiative being organized by various professional organizations such as UAP, PhilGBC and PSVARE.

o A successful bingo social to raise funds for the chapter’s various activities was held last 29 May 2009 also at the ACCI.

o Induction of the 2009 new set of officers of ASHRAE Philippines was held last 23 July 2009 at the ACCI.

To conduct awareness on research promotion activities of the society to members during the quarterly general membership meetings enumerated by the CTTC chairman.

To intensify donor contribution to achieve Full Circle award goal.

To start all seminar activities of the chapter with a brief presentation of the society’s research promotion benefits to the members and non-members alike.

To conduct a golf tournament and a bingo social the majority of the proceeds therewith shall contribute to research promotion activities.

To further promote ASHRAE to Filipino engineering students, we plan to :

• Maintain and strengthen the current active student branches- De La Salle, Mapua and TUP• Re-activate the inactive student branches- PUP and HAU• Establish new branches in major universities• Extend membership to non-mechanical engineering students like civil engineering and architecture students in Mapua• Continue to provide a wide array of activities for holistic development of student members• Synergize the activities of the different student branches for greater impact• Maximize the availment of student benefits for ASHRAE students

PRESIDENT’S MBO

• To intensify relations with other professional organizations such as United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Philippine Society of Ventilating Air Conditioning and Refrigerating Engineers (PSVARE) and Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) in furthering the objectives of the society especially on climate change and global warming. • To reactivate the Philippine chapter’s website within the year• To continue releasing e-newsletters for members so they can be aware of the activities being undertaken by the chapter• To help government and foundations in explaining the technical aspects of their HVAC/R projects to lay persons and directly support their activities for the welfare of the general population • To support fully the forthcoming activity of coming up with a standard on energy efficiency & environmental assessment for buildings, similar to LEED, but based on Philippine situations.
