Psalm 122

Paul stood up in the middle of thecouncil on Mars Hill and said, “Peopleof Athens, I see that you are veryreligious in every way. As I was walkingthrough town and carefully observingyour objects of worship, I even foundan altar with this inscription: ‘To anunknown God.’ What you worship asunknown, I now proclaim to you. God,who made the world and everything init, is Creator of heaven and earth. Goddoesn’t live in temples made with

human hands. Nor is God served byhuman hands, as though needing some-thing, since the Holy One is the onewho gives life, breath, and everythingelse. From one person God createdevery human nation to live on thewhole earth, having determined theirappointed times and the boundaries of their lands. God made the nations sothey would seek God, perhaps evenreach out for the Holy and find it. Infact, God isn’t far away from any of us.In God we live, move, and exist. As

some of your own poets said, ‘We areGod’s offspring.’

“Therefore, as God’s offspring, wehave no need to imagine that the divinebeing is like a gold, silver, or stoneimage made by human skill andthought. God overlooks ignorance of these things in times past, but nowdirects everyone everywhere to changetheir hearts and lives. This is becauseGod has set a day when God intends to judge the world justly by Jesus who has

been appointed. God has given proof of this to everyone by raising Christ fromthe dead.”

When they heard about the resurrectionfrom the dead, some began to ridiculePaul. However, others said, “We’ll hearfrom you about this again.” At that, Paulleft the council. Some people joinedhim and came to believe, includingDionysius, a member of the council onMars Hill, a woman named Damaris, and several others.

How Parking Can Equal Hospitality

At Hennepin, we like to reserve the east parking lot for first-time visitors,

families with young children, and people who have limited mobility or

need assistance. Instead of driving around the block looking for parking

every week, we encourage all people to take advantage of the 600 spaces

in the Walker Parking Ramp across the street. The ushers and front desk

receptionists have vouchers for you to use with your

parking ticket, or you can choose to contribute $1.

Climate-controlled, covered from weather, and just a short

walk across Hennepin/Lyndale, the ramp will give you

easy access to everything you need here at the church. Be

hospitable and selfish at the same time: park in the ramp!
