October, 2011 To our many families, friends and alums Welcome to our 45 th school year! Can you believe it? Yes, along the way, we’ve had different names and multiple locations, but here we are. Forty-five years after one family’s dream. Back then, hard as it is for us to imagine, it began with a single rented room and a handful of students. Dreams have to begin somehow. Today, we have 184,000 square feet, fifty-plus acres and one-thousand high school students. Talk about a legacy! Wow! I never had the opportunity to meet our foundress, Mary Alice Smith, so it’s impossible for me to know exactly what she saw when she imagined what her school might someday be. There are indeed people blessed with an incredible ability to picture what no one else can see. But who could have ever envisioned all that her efforts have produced. Even she might be surprised. But take a great idea, mix in some boundless enthusiasm, stir in a healthy dose of God’s blessings and wrap it with the goal of doing good for young people … you never know what might result! The loaves and fishes come to mind. I would ask you to consider your possible Annual Fund gift in that very same light. There’s no telling what a single gift might produce. What if a student, who otherwise could not afford all of our tuition, were now able to attend because of your generosity? How can anyone know who that child might someday become? Or what if the library book you allow us to purchase opens the mind of even one more student? And how many hundreds of students will be impacted by the faculty member who gets to attend a conference of the best ideas? And best of all, one person’s gift often inspires yet another. What can a single gift accomplish? A good idea, a dose of God’s blessing, wrapped in the only reason you would ever give it doing good for young people. You never know what might result! Can you imagine as she did what sort of legacy you might leave? Thank you in advance for considering a gift to our SBA 2011-2012 Annual Fund. Remember, dreams have to start somewhere! To our many families, friends and alums –

Welcome to our 45th

school year! Can you believe it? Yes, along the way, we’ve had different

names and multiple locations, but here we are. Forty-five years after one family’s dream. Back then,

hard as it is for us to imagine, it began with a single rented room and a handful of students. Dreams have

to begin somehow.

Today, we have 184,000 square feet, fifty-plus acres and one-thousand high school students.

Talk about a legacy! Wow!

I never had the opportunity to meet our foundress, Mary Alice Smith, so it’s impossible for me

to know exactly what she saw when she imagined what her school might someday be. There are indeed

people blessed with an incredible ability to picture what no one else can see. But who could have ever

envisioned all that her efforts have produced. Even she might be surprised.

But take a great idea, mix in some boundless enthusiasm, stir in a healthy dose of God’s

blessings and wrap it with the goal of doing good for young people … you never know what might

result! The loaves and fishes come to mind.

I would ask you to consider your possible Annual Fund gift in that very same light.

There’s no telling what a single gift might produce. What if a student, who otherwise could not

afford all of our tuition, were now able to attend because of your generosity? How can anyone know

who that child might someday become?

Or what if the library book you allow us to purchase opens the mind of even one more student?

And how many hundreds of students will be impacted by the faculty member who gets to attend a

conference of the best ideas? And best of all, one person’s gift often inspires yet another.

What can a single gift accomplish? A good idea, a dose of God’s blessing, wrapped in the only

reason you would ever give it – doing good for young people. You never know what might result! Can

you imagine – as she did – what sort of legacy you might leave?

Thank you in advance for considering a gift to our SBA 2011-2012 Annual Fund. Remember,

dreams have to start somewhere!

“Give and it will be given to you… for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

Luke 6:38

St. Benedict at Auburndale Annual Fund

Goals “Lasting Legacies” hopes to…

• Raise $200,000 in unrestricted gifts this fiscal year

• Reach 55% of that by December 31st

• Acquire 200 first-time donors

With the above goals reached, “Lasting Legacies” can then realize the following needs…

• Tuition Assistance – Make an SBA education more affordable

• Technology Innovations – Diversify classroom instruction techniques with additional technology and faculty training

• Operational Needs – Sustain campus programs and balance school budget

Whether you graduated from Auburndale and remember the Smith family, you graduated from St. Benedict at Auburndale and remember the Dominican Order of Nuns, or you graduated from St. Benedict at Auburndale High School and remember moving into the new buildings…

WE ARE ALL EAGLES.

The St. Benedict Annual Fund is a very important part of our school. Not only does it drive some of our main budget needs, it also gives us the necessary subsidy to maintain and enhance our student resources and programs.

In the Eagle spirit of giving, we hope that you will consider a contribution to the SBA “Lasting Legacies” Annual Fund. This year, we have the largest student body in our history. We are so blessed, and where blessings are received, blessings are given. We are happy you have been a part of SBA and we pray that you will continue to be.

VERITAS. CARITAS. LIBERTAS.
