Dear friend of Coastal Carolina Athletics:

on behalf of our coaches, administrative and support staff and more than 425 student-athletes, thank you for your continued support of Chanticleer Athletics.

The 2011-12 academic year was once again filled with tremendous achievements by our student-athletes – in the classroom, on the playing fields and in the community. As you review this annual re-port, I hope that you, too, will be proud of the achievements of our student-athletes. Their success is a by-product of your generous commitment to their University.

success does not happen by chance, it is a result of many – students, alumni, donors, faculty and staff, parents, sponsors and volunteers – who share our vision and support our programs. In the end our student-athletes remain at the core of everything we do as we create opportunities for each of them to succeed academically, athletically and as members of this community, and most importantly, as Champions for Life.

During the 2011-12 campaign Coastal Carolina was a leader in the big south Conference and placed teams and individuals on the national stage during post-season competition. faCility enhanCementscoastal carolina baseball/softball staDiuM Project aPProVeDConstruction for the $10.2 million Coastal Carolina University Baseball and Softball Complex is set to begin in fall 2012. The renovations will put both programs’ facili-ties among the nation’s best.

The close proximity of the baseball and softball stadiums, combined with the $1.2 million Boni Belle Baseball and Softball Practice Facility that was completed last spring, will give Coastal Carolina perhaps the best overall baseball-softball combined facilities in the nation.

Both the Coastal softball and baseball teams will play their 2013 home games at other local venues before returning to their new confines in 2014.

The renovations will keep the current playing surfaces intact while building new grandstands, restrooms, concessions stands, coaches offices, student-athlete locker rooms and lounges, team meeting space, state-of-the-art scoreboards, video instruction system, athletic training rooms, laundry facilities, premium fan areas and media areas. In addition to providing all the amenities of the nation’s best venues, the baseball and softball renovations will make Coastal Carolina fully compliant with the American with Disabilities Act.

The softball stadium renovation will expand seating from 300 to 500 and includes standing room for overflow crowds. Overall, the new softball building will be 9,000 square feet.

The 33,000-square-foot baseball project expands the 850-seat Watson Stadium to include 2,500 permanent seats, with the potential to accommodate up to 6,000 for events such as NCAA postseason tournaments. The current configura-

tion will accommodate the extra 3,000-plus fans on grass berms down the right and left field lines and a boardwalk around the outfield wall.

In addition to the impact the facilities will have on the baseball and softball programs, the new area between the stadiums will enhance the football gameday experience, offer-ing an expanded concourse area for fans to enjoy numerous festivities.
