2012-13 Home schedules
RMU … Host Institution of the 2013 NCAA® Men’s Frozen Four® at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center
College hockey fans know that the center of the sport’s universe right now may very well be in Western Pennsylvania. Robert Morris University, which has only had a hockey program since 2004, will host the 2013 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center. The Colonial women’s squad, in just its seventh season, won the 2012 College Hockey America Championship! You can see both teams up close in 84 Lumber Arena this year with sensibly priced season and individual game tickets. And after select home games, stick around to “Skate with the Colonials.” That’s right…go on the ice and skate with your favorite Colonial players. “Skate with the Colonials” is free if you bring your own skates, $2.50 to rent from the Island Sports Center front desk.
special eventsThe 2013 NCAA® Men’s Frozen Four® isn’t the only big event that will crown a champion in our hometown this season. The inaugural Pittsburgh College Hockey Invitational also will be held at CONSOL Energy Center on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28 and 29. The tournament features host Robert Morris, along with Ohio State, Penn State and Miami! The Colonials and Nittany Lions meet at 4:30 Friday followed by the Buckeyes and RedHawks at 7:30. The consolation game Saturday (4:30) is followed by the championship (7:30). Also, don’t miss the women’s Seventh Annual “Skate for the Cure” games Feb. 1-2 when Syracuse visits 84 Lumber Arena. All proceeds help benefit breast cancer research. RMU is proud to say that it has raised thousands of dollars through the years as part of this College Hockey America initiative.
