2012– 2013 School Year in Review The Key Club at Bellbrook High School part- nered with two of our previous students, Srirama Josyula and Rachel Billock. Both OSU students are part of Project Nicaragua, a 501- ©3 naonal nonprofit that works to improve health & quality of life in Rancho Grande, Nica- ragua. The OSU chapter is working to build a library in this rural village for the children. Bey Hociota,a Key Club member, coordinated the book drive among all schools in the district and our local library to collect over 50 boxes of books to donate to this library in Nicaragua. This year’s Senior members of Naonal Honor Soci- ety(64 total) will graduate with over 3100 hours of NHS community service, which is about 6 mes the NHS required amount! According to the LEADER- SHIP magazine, the average NHS chapter across the country has about 750 hours of community service. In addion, members maintained their high GPA requirements and leadership acvies. NHS projects this year included volunteering for Market Day, Sug- ar Maple Fesval, tutoring, Holiday Extravaganza, Holiday in the Park, Spirited Affair, Halloween in the Park, Art in the Park, Peek in the Creek, Fun in the Sun, Park District Junior High dances, Camp Dove- tail, Project Charlie, Eagle Excellence, and Big Broth- ers/Big Sisters. 2012– 2013 School Year in Review

The Key Club at Bellbrook High School part-nered with two of our previous students, Srirama Josyula and Rachel Billock. Both OSU students are part of Project Nicaragua, a 501-©3 national nonprofit that works to improve health & quality of life in Rancho Grande, Nica-ragua. Jenny Sanderson broke the 3200 meter run school record in Track.

Pam McDonald was named an outstanding teacher by Battelle for Kids.

Erin Dorn, Gabrielle Etter, and Kelly Newman helped the basketball team break school rec-ords of 98 games played and 80 games won in their 4 varsity seasons in which Etter played in every game. Dorn became the fourth leading scorer in Bellbrook history with 1140 points. All 3 girls received athletic scholarships for college.

The Boys Tennis Team were once again the SWBL Champions.

The Bellbrook girls’ basketball team continued their impressive run of success this past year as they posted a 21 win, 4 loss record. That win total not only gave the girls at least 20 wins for the third straight year, but it also gave the sen-iors 80 wins for their four varsity years, a new school record for any class. The girls also con-tinued their SWBL dominance as they won their 4th straight Southwestern Division title, making it 11 championships in the last 12 years.

The Men’s Soccer team were SWBL Champs for the 21 year in a row. They ended the regular season undefeated, were District Champs, los-ing only to the eventual State Champion in overtime. Eric Lynch broke school records such as career goals scored, single season goals scored, career assists, single season assists, career points, and single season points

The Bellbrook Varsity Competition Cheerleaders qualified for State this year and finished in the top 20

Anna Drake broke the 100 meter backstroke and the 50 and 100 meter butterfly school rec-ords, Christine Delong broke the 50 and 100 meter breaststroke school records, Robert McComb broke the 200 meter freestyle school record, and Adam Luthman was on the record breaking 200 medley relay . Both Girls and Boys swim teams finished 2nd in SWBL

Bellbrook Golf Season Highlights: Record of 8-6; 2nd place at the Brookville Invitational, 2nd place at the League Tournament, tie for 2nd place in the overall league for golf. Miranda Green and Michael Bennett were named to 2nd team all league in the SWBL. Miranda Greene and Haylie Gazda finished 2nd and 3rd low indi-viduals at the Girls Division I Sectionals Tourna-ment to advance to the Districts tournament.

The Football Team and Men’s Basketball team both finished 3rd in SWBL Conference play.

Courtney Swain qualified for the State Cross Country meet this past fall.

The Bellbrook Marching Eagles once again had an extremely successful season making Finals at the BOA Kettering Regional and finishing 37th at the BOA Grand National Competition.

Dream, and Once Upon a Mattress.

The Bellbrook Winterguard was named

NATIONAL CHAMPION!!! They also won the

State Championship earlier in their season.

Doug Rasch became the first boys basketball player in 30 years to average more than 20 points per game.

The Men’s and Women’s Track teams both fin-ished 2nd at SWBL Finals

Hannah Collins took 3rd place at the OHSAA Diving Finals.

Cameron Kelly Finished 2nd in the State Wres-

tling Tournament, and Ben Schram finished in

3rd.

Bellbrook High School, with a student population of 840, is located in Greene County, southeast of Dayton, Ohio. It is the high school of the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local School District. The district is rural & suburban and consists of the City of Bellbrook (population 7000) and Sugarcreek Township (population

6630). Our residents, mostly involved in business, professional and military careers, enjoy the scenic and peaceful surroundings and contribute to a strong foundation of family and community values.

Type: Public, four-year comprehensive high school Enrollment: 840 as of June 2, 2013 Professional Membership Accreditation: Permanent member of The College Board, College Scholarship Service, Ohio and National Association for College Counseling. Accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges and the Ohio Department of Education. Standardized Test Scores: Statistics are based on most recent scores (Class of 2013 SAT Verbal: 568; SAT Math: 581; ACT Composite: 25. Every year approx. three members of the senior class receive recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Faculty: The faculty consists of 55 teachers, 49% hold advanced degrees. Advanced Placement: Formal Advanced Placement courses are offered in Computer Science A, Environ-mental Science, Spanish Language, French Language, Music Theory, Biology, Chemistry, Physics B, English Language, Statistics, English Literature, Calculus AB, Government and Politics, Calculus BC and U.S. History.

During the 2013 examination 168 students took 312 tests in 15 academic areas. Honors/Scholarship Classes: Honors level English clas-ses are offered in the 9th and 10th grades. Scholarship courses are offered in Math at all grade levels. Grades earned in these courses do not receive extra weighting for GPA. Career Education Programs: Bellbrook High School is affiliated with The Greene County Career Center located just outside of Xenia, Ohio. GCCC offers over 20 program choices including 1 housed at Bellbrook: Business Technology. Project Lead the Way, a national pre-college engineering program was introduced during the 2007-2008 school year. We are very pleased to be affiliated with this progressive curriculum as it further diversifies, expands and enhances choices for our students. Post Secondary Enrollment Option: Students may take courses offered by local colleges/universities. Credit is awarded and grades are included in the final GPA.
