45th AnnualClinical Advances in Pediatrics Symposium

We invite you to attend this two-and-a-half-day conference that focuses on providing you with the latest advances in pediatric research and evidence-based practice. The format is interactive and emphasizes the practical application of current concepts for community-based pediatric health care providers. This annual learning event is designed for pediatricians, pediatric specialists, family physicians, and allied health professionals involved in the care of children and adolescents. Participant registration will include attendance at the Schorer-Pakula dinner and lecture on November 13, a conference guidebook and tote bag, electronic access to all educational sessions, continental breakfast each morning, networking luncheons, and afternoon refreshments on November 14 and 15. Your participation helps to shape the educational experience for everyone in attendance. Hundreds of repeat participants have made this conference an annual event.

As part of your registration, you will receive an abbreviated conference guidebook and tote bag onsite that will support and augment the information provided in the educational sessions. In lieu of a printed, comprehensive course syllabus, handouts and complete presentation materials will be available online. Participants are encouraged to view, save and/or pre-print the online educational materials and join us in going green.

NOTE: Use of personal laptops during conference hours is encouraged; however, all equipment must be on battery power as charging stations are not available within conference space. Printing stations will not be available onsite.

While you are here, we encourage you to tour our facility. This year, we are highlighting the new Elizabeth Ann Hall Patient Tower at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. This tower houses our Elizabeth J. Ferrell Fetal Health Center with the Gary Dickinson Family Bridge of Hope, the expanded Cancer Center, the Adelaide C. Ward Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Lisa Barth Chapel and Garden. A brief 30-minute tour is available at the close of each day and upon request. Please contact Michelle McMillan, Director of Physician Services at [email protected] or visit the Physician Services booth outside the auditorium during the conference for more information or to schedule your tour.

Don’t miss your opportunity to see the Children’s Mercy helicopter. It has been custom-designed exclusively for infants and children and is equipped with enhanced safety features. Dr. Barbara Howard is supported by an educational grant from the Missouri Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. There is additional support by unrestricted educational grants in accordance with ACCME Standards. At the time of this printing, a listing of commercial supporters was not available. Appropriate acknowledgement will be given to all supporters in all course materials provided during the conference.

The Children’s Mercy Hospital Auditorium, Community Room and House Staff Classroom will comfortably seat for 400.

Complimentary guest parking is provided by Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. You will receive a parking permit prior to the conference. Please place the permit in your front dashboard and enter the parking garage through the main hospital entrance at 2401 Gillham Road.
