Tanks or asking those hard-hitting questions. Please, letme explain:

Te third annual Louisville Cra t Beer Week is a 9-day, city wide celebration o local and regional cra t beer. Te primary goal o Louisville Cra t Beer Week is to promote our areas thriv-ing cra t beer culture, enhancing beer knowledge and apprecia-tion. Tis pull-out guide, along with our website, LouisvilleBeer.com, will be your guide to all o the events that are part o thiscelebration.

Within the last ew years the awareness o micro-brewed andhand cra ted beers has increased dramatically. Most restaurantsand bars have gotten hip to the cra t beer scene and now o ermore varieties o beer. I think both the oodie revolution andthe Buy Local First movement have increased peoples ondnessor local and regional cra t beer (read: beer with avor).

I registered and launched the rst iteration o Louisville-Beer.com back in 2008 as I was slowly getting into cra t beer.It started as a message board or me and my riends to reviewand share new beers we had tried. Over time, I had a hand ul o members, and thats when the spammers took over. I ended upshutting the site down in 2009, and there it sat.

I decided to crank it up again in August o 2011 with a littlehelp rom my riends. In just under a year, LouisvilleBeer.comhas become the online source or the calendar o events, cover-age o these events, videos, reviews, news and education oncra t beer in Kentuckiana. We gave Roger Baylor (o New Alba-nian Brewing Company) a new stage or his bi weekly column.

LouisvilleBeer.com broke the news that Jeremy Hunt (o Dog sh Head) was coming to work at BBC St. Matthews. We

were the rst on the scene when Falls Citys brewing equipmentarrived. We covered the collaboration brews between ChicagosLocal Option, Cumberland Brewery and Against the Grain. Our rst look video o Apocalypse Brew Works has had over 1,700views and o ered people a sneak peek at the Mellwood Avenuebrewery months be ore it opened.

We have our nger on the pulse, and people are seeking outthis in ormation as the cra t beer scene continues to grow inKentucky and Indiana. We like to get behind the scenes to show-case the great beer in our area and the great people behind it.

For the second year in a row, LouisvilleBeer.com has had theprivilege o promoting and organizing Cra t Beer Week. Te in-augural LCBW in 2010 was run by a loosely organized brewersguild o sorts. It was handed over to us in 2011 with little timeto promote it. We pushed the events online via social media andthe website. In the end, it was a success and we were excited tostart working on the next year, wanting it to be bigger and bet-ter. An overview video o last years LCBW can be ound athttp://bit.ly/oILAIN.

Tis year, with a ton o help rom sales dude Scott Lykins,we started promoting earlier. With the blessing o all o thelocal breweries, weve taken Louisville Cra t Beer Week up a ewnotches. Tis is going to be the biggest Cra t Beer Week ever.We hope to bring awareness o great beer to a wider audience by publishing this guide in LEO Weekly.

Wed like to thank our sponsors, LEO Weekly, West SixthBrewing Company and Whole Foods Market. With their help,as well as that o our advertisers, we are looking orward tobringing this event to a greater number o people outside o our

close-knit community. A huge thank you also goes out to all o the venues hosting events.

O course, Louisville Cra t Beer Week would be impossiblewithout our amazing local and regional breweries: Againstthe Grain, Apocalypse Brew Works, Beer Engine (Danville),Bluegrass Brewing Company (and Brewpubs), Country Boy Brewing (Lexington), Cumberland Brews, Falls City, Kentucky Ale, Lore Brewing (Danville), New Albanian Brewing Com-pany, Schla y, Upland (Bloomington) and West Sixth Brewing(Lexington). With this number o choices, theres no reasonNO to drink local!

Teres a whole lot more to beer than the light-colored lagerswe all grew up with. We all hope that this series o events canopen the door to tastier beer or the masses. Dont be a raido trying new beers. We hope to see a lot o new aces at theseevents. Beer doesnt get more domestic than this.

Remember, please drink responsibly this week (and every week).
