With the Christmas and New Year festivities out of the way, there is much to look forward to in 2013, and this winter kick-starts awhole season of wonderful happenings in Larnaka. With Valentine's Day around the corner, we have lots of wonderful ideas onhow to celebrate in Larnaka whether you are newlyweds or old loves, from romantic walks to couples pottery-making sessions. Itis no secret that everyone is feeling the pinch in these hard economic times, but a trip to Larnaka is fantastic value for money witha whole range of activities that can be enjoyed for free or with very little cost. You can try some of them with a fantastic, newsuggested itinerary for those spending two weeks in the town that includes something new and interesting for each day. And anew video hears real experiences of Larnaka from real people who love the town, so read on to find out how even in winter andhard times, or for romantic occasions, there is still a town that is exciting, enjoyable and affordable... it can only be Larnaka!

2013 is "Larnaka's Time"

The heads of the Larnaka Tourism Boardare anticipating a fantastic 2013 forLarnaka. Chairman Mr Lefkaritis firmlybelieves that "It is Larnaka's time, as theregion has many prospects" and isconfident in Larnaka's ability to attractvisitors, ensuring positive levels of tourismfor 2013. Vice Chairman-Larnaka Mayor MrLouroutziatis echoes this belief; thatLarnaka is heading into a year where its fullpotential will be realised- both as adestination for longer holidays and citybreaks.

Free Village Excursion

If you are lucky enough to be staying inLarnaka this winter then you are in for atreat! All winter, until March 2013, guestsof hotels and apartments in Larnaka areentitled to a free half-day excursion tothree of Larnaka's picturesque villages;Lefkara, Tochni and Skarinou. Highlights ofthe tour arethe complimentary wine andtreats offered by Lefkara Municipalityandthe participation in a traditional cookingsession. The excursions are held everySaturday from 9am - 3pm and offer a realinsight into traditional village life.

Larnaka Experiences Captured onFilmIf you have visited Larnaka before, you willprobably have your own reasons as to whyyou love the region. This is what a newvideo on Larnaka has set out to do;capture all the wonderful things aboutLarnaka and find out what real people withreal experiences feel about 'CharmingLarnaka'. Although the film is under 4,5minutes long, there is so much capturedand showcased that you will want to packyour bags and catch a plane over in notime!

Larnaka Top 10 - Discover theRegion's AppealAs a friend of Larnaka, no doubt you couldlist many aspects that make the region theperfect destination. Indeed there are somany reasons that we couldn't possibly listthem all, but we have managed to comeup with the top 10 that perfectly captureand encapsulate Larnaka's appeal, andthese have been included in a handy flyer.The flyer is currently available in English andRussian but will soon be available in otherlanguages.

New Routes to Larnaka

Since the creation of Larnaka's newinternational airport four years ago, travelto and from the region has become aneasier experience thanks to state-of-the-art facilit ies and an increased passengercapacity. The aim of the airport is to openup the Larnaka experience to the worldwith as many countries connected to theisland as possible and for 2013, new flightsto Milan, Latvia, Ukraine and Bucharesthave been added.

Or a museum may seem anunusual place for romance, but thePierides-Laiki Bank exhibits many artefactsthat relate to love, marriage and fertility.

Discover a Fortnight of Fun

New Cultural Walks Map

A stroll around Larnaka in the crisp winterair is the perfect way to take in all theessential landmarks of the town, and youcan enjoy seeing them via the threeCultural Walks which cover all theimportant sites of the area. Walk A takes inthe Seafront & Town Centre, Walk Bcovers Archaeology & Museums, and WalkC focuses on Culture and Nature. Acomprehensive map is available in Englishand Russian, and this has recently beenupdated.

Free Audio Guides for Larnaka Sites

With the advent of personal technologicaldevices, most people can listen to audio'on-the-go', which is why the CTO hasproduced a series of audio guides in mp3format.
