2013 HOSPITALITY OVERVIEW INTERNSHIP HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO GAIN VALUABLE HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE AT ONE OF THE LARGEST AND TOP-RATED RESORTS IN THE UNITED STATES? Kalahari Resorts and the University of Kalahari are committed to developing tomorrow’s hospitality leaders. We have a unique opportunity to develop all-stars that could permanently join one of our two current resorts – or a new third property scheduled to open in 2014! Our internships are categorized into two different experiences – and are offered in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin or Sandusky, Ohio. The next two pages detail the Hospitality Overview internship. HOSPITALITY OVERVIEW INTERNSHIP This track is a presentation of the Kalahari brand and our culture, while learning what hospitality means to our company. You will learn and work in a fast-paced environment, while making a daily difference in one of our key departments. This is a working internship, open to students ranging from incoming freshman to seniors. You will be expected to engage with guests and perform the basic job functions of a hospitality associate. After 6- weeks, you will transition from one area/department in our resort to another. The potential departmental options are listed on the next page. Along with your work experience, you will be paid to take two mini-courses (Welcome to Kalahari. and Beyond Expectations), have a special intern orientation breakfast with Kalahari leaders, and be invited to an ending luncheon. Successful students will have opportunities to grow with our company. This one internship could turn into a career! LENGTH OF PROGRAM - 12 WEEKS The program will begin around Saturday, May 18 and will end on Friday, August 30. Some students will be encouraged to continue their employment through the Labor Day Weekend. Students must be able to work the entire 12-week summer program. Hours will be flexible and students need to available to work 40 hours with open availability. During an interview, positions may be - at times - offered on the spot. This internship is paid, and pays the going rate for the job chosen. The expectation would be that this would be your only summer job. If your university/school requires a program longer than 12-weeks, we will accommodate you; if chosen. HOUSING One of the hurdles students can experience is finding a place to live for the summer near the Kalahari Resort. The Kalahari does not offer housing. In Wisconsin, the Visitor & Convention Bureau hosts an updated file on their website with available local options. In Ohio, we have a few partners that cater to students. Those options get smaller very quickly, and only students that act quickly will benefit. Partnering with another intern to find housing is also a good strategy. Your intern coordinator can help with that process if you act quickly after being chosen. In your cover letter, please address what plans you intend to make to secure affordable local housing for the summer.
