SPECIAL EVENTS

The View 4th Annual Chili Cook Off (Fee: $10.00 registration fee to compete) Chili cooks have one thing in common: They all think that their recipe is the best. We can sit around

and debate beans or no beans, hot or not, chicken or beef forever but there is only one way to settle

who has the best: an old-fashioned Chili Cook-off. This annual event is now open to the public. So

bring your chili and let’s see who gets bragging rights and prizes. For more information or to register

contact The View by calling 816-316-4888 or by coming into The View to register in person by Janu-

ary 22nd.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt Come join us and the Easter Bunny for our FREE Annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year we are dou-

bling the number of eggs to over 10,000 eggs! There will be two different age groups to give our

littlest hunters a chance to get eggs. Remember to bring your camera and Easter baskets! Age groups

will be 5 and under and 6-10.

25th Annual Arbor Day Celebration Join the Grandview community in celebrating the 25th Annual Arbor Day Celebration!! Free tree

seedlings will be available for those attending (while supplies last) courtesy of the Missouri Depart-

ment of Conservation, Forestry Division. A special guest speaker will be part of the program with

many other fun and educational activities. A tree will be planted in honor of Grandview’s 25th Arbor

Day honoring the past recipients. The program will be held near the Brumble’s Forest Shelter

House.

Father/Daughter Valentine’s Dance (Fee: $15/person prior to 1/31/2013 after 1/31/2013 $20/person) Come and join us for the social event of the year! Every little girl deserves a chance to be Daddy’s

little girl. Your little girl will not want to miss dinner and dancing with her Dad. To capture the night

a photographer will take a picture of each couple. Cost includes dinner, a rose, gift bag, and a photo.

Liberty Memorial and Roasterie Day Trip Join us for a day of coffee, great bbq, and history. We will start our day at the

Roasterie factory for a tour and tasting. We will then head to Fiorella's Jack Stack

BBQ for lunch. After lunch we will head to Liberty Memorial and the National

World War I Museum for a guided tour.

- February 13th 9:30am departure from The View with an estimated return time of

5:00pm

Cost:$40 per person and includes both tours, meal, and transportation.

Jefferson City Day Trip Join us for an adventure in our state’s Capitol. We will head to Jefferson City, Mis-

souri and tour the state penitentiary, then eat lunch at Prison Brews Restaurant. After

lunch we will head over to the Highway Patrol Museum for a self-guided tour. Be-

fore we leave Jefferson City we will stop by Central Dairy and have some fresh ice

cream.

- April 10th 7:00am departure from The View with an estimated return time of

5:30pm

Cost: $70 per person and includes transportation, tours, meal, and ice cream

treat.

Youth Basketball 1st-4th grade It’s now time to register for Basketball! We offer programs for kids from 1st — 4th grades.

Fees for program are Residents $25, Non-Residents $30. A late fee of $10 will be assessed

after February 9. Leagues start mid February and run through March.

1st and 2nd Grades Play on Friday nights

3 and 4th Grades Practice on Monday nights with Games on Saturdays

QuickStart Tennis Ages 7-10 years QuickStart Tennis is an exciting format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the

game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter courts and modified scoring, all tailored to

age and size of the participant. Cost $25 Registration Deadline 02/05/2013

Sundays February 10th– March 24th from 2:00pm-3:00pm

Youth Outdoor Soccer Ages 5-8 Lil' Bulldogs Soccer is designed for children ages 5-8 interested in learning the fundamen-

tals of soccer. For many participants this is their first experience with soccer, no scores or

standings are recorded. *Registration Begins February 1st and ends March 1st

Cost $40 Residents and $45 Non– Residents

Season: March and April

Practices: Days and times chosen by coach

Games Days: Tuesday or Thursday

Game Times: 6:30 p.m. weeknights, morning on Saturdays (depends

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Tiny and Pee-Wee Bulldogs Soccer Ages 3-4

This 6 week program serves as an introduction to soccer skills. Each week we will focus on

a new fundamental skill adding to what we previously learned. During the last class we will

play a scrimmage. Cost includes a t-shirt and a medal. Cost is $45 *Pre-registration required

by March 29th

Preschool Fitness Ages 3-4 Preschool fitness will teach kids that being fit is fun. Each class will consist of a warm up,

fitness fun, and a cool down. Cost $20 *Pre-registration required 1 week prior to class

Tumbling (Ages 5-18)

Students will utilize the skills learned in Sessions I & II and III to advance to skills such

as handsprings and running tumbling. Cost $55 Registration Deadline 1/30

DDD Judo Club (Ages 6-up)

This class is great for all ages and skill levels. Judo is all about throwing, ground

work, and submissions. Cost:$20

February 2nd-23rd, March 2nd-23rd, April 6th-27th

Youth/Teen Hip Hop and Jazz Dance (Ages 4-17)

All dance classes begin the first week of the month are ongoing. Sessions consist of 4 or

5 classes depending on the month. Cost $20 * Pre-registration required no later than 1 week

prior to start of class.

ADULT SPORTS

Men’s 35 and Older Basketball League

League begins mid-February and runs through March. Call Grandview Parks and

Recreation if your interested in forming a team. League play will be on Sunday

evenings.

Cost is $100 per team of 6-10 players. Deadline 2/8/2013

Men’s 18 and older Basketball League

Leagues begin mid February and run through March. Call Grandview Parks and

Recreation if your interested in forming a team. League will play on Wednesday

nights.

Madden Xbox 360 Tournament Cost: $10 Entry Fee

Are you a Madden football nut? If so, Grandview Parks & Recreation will host a Madden

XBOX 360 Tournament for anyone who feels they're unbeatable. Join our "Madden-

aniacs" and test your skills at our 1st annual tournament on February 9th. The tourna-

ment will be run in a bracket system (single elimination). Tournament starts at 9 am and

players will be assigned time slots. Games will be played on our Movie Screen (16ft

x12ft).

AQUATICS

Parent Child Aqua - Ages 6 months 3 years (Cost: $36.00 Member, Non-

Members $45.00) This course is intended to help develop swimming readiness by leading parents and their children

(age 6 months to about 3 years) in water exploration activities with the objectives of having fun

and becoming comfortable in the water. Parent and Child Aquatics gives parents safety information

and teaches techniques to help orient their children to the water. It also provides direction regarding

how to supervise water activities safely and encourages safe behaviors and practices around the
