Johnston founded the first episcopal school west of the Mississippi River, “a school set apart to the benefit of Church and nation.”

Founded on faith, tMI continues to grow in relevance and service, thanks to your belief in our students, our teachers and our mission.

Your donations to the 2014-2015 Annual Fund made it possible for: • Members of the TMI faculty to take summer courses toward advanced degrees or Advanced

placement (Ap) training;• Yearbook students to have a new computer lab, equipped with Mac Minis;• Cadets on the Rifle Team to practice for matches in a refurbished O. Scott Petty Rifle Range; • Work to begin on a new softball/baseball complex;• And for many other improvements to the effectiveness and safety of school programs and facilities.As a TMI parent during the 1980s, I remember with gratitude the efforts of all the parents and

alumni who helped to steer the school through a challenging move to the present campus. As a current tMI grandparent, I see that their faith was justified. our school continues to grow in size and vision for its future.

tom C.  Frost ’45 completed his sixth and final term on the TMI Board of Governors

at a June 4 meeting where he was honored for his service to the school.

“There is no question that tMI would not be the school it is today without tom’s vision, commitment, support, and decades-long involvement,” said the Rt. Rev. Gary R. Lillibridge, bishop of the episcopal Diocese of West Texas and chairman of the TMI Board of Governors. “We have been extraordinarily blessed by Tom’s gifted leadership, his service and his friendship; and we look forward to his continuing involvement even as his board service comes to an end.” 

Mr. Frost, chairman emeritus of Frost Bank, joined the Board of Governors in 1997 and previously had served on the Board of trustees. With

the Rt. Rev. James e. Folts, retired bishop of the episcopal Diocese of West Texas, he served the school as co-chairman of the 2006-2008 “We’re on a Mission” capital campaign that surpassed its goal of $12.5 million to build All Saints Chapel and three new

residence halls. He was honored at the Stars over tMI gala in 2000 and 2009 and was named Alumnus of the Year in 1974. 

tMI’s Frost Athletic Center is named in his honor, recognizing his commitment not only to the structure

but to the tMI community and to the TMI educational experience as a whole.

The Frosts are a tMI legacy family: Mr. Frost’s father tom C. Frost Sr. was a 1922 alumnus, his son Bill graduated in 1972, and grandson Will is a member of the class of 2012.

“Reaching across the generations, tMI has consistently provided an education based on values,” Mr. Frost said in a 2008 oral-history interview. “one of the things we’ve continued at tMI is a pedagogic platform based on deep, sincere values.”

Mr. Frost will remain involved with tMI through the work of the tMI Commissioners, a group of alumni and other friends of the school who have made extraordinarily valuable contributions and are charged with enhancing and supporting its mission.
