    Dear Neighbor,Here in Cambrian SchoolDistrict(CSD), ou rfoc us is on providing allofourelementary and middle school students with an excellent educ ation that preparesthem for high school and the world ahead. Thanks to top-quality academic programs,highly qua lified teach ers and strong comm unity s upport, CSD students' s cores onstatewide examsconsistentlyexceed the State Standard of Excellence, and areabove the averages for both Santa Clara County and the State of California.

    Repairs and Updates for Student Safety and21st-century LearningWe know s afe, modern classrooms are key to our students'achievement in CSD. Currently, some, of our schools requireupdates to ensure student safety and security, includingfire and earthquake sa fety systems, fencing , gates andimproved lighting . All schools require technology updatesto sup port 21st-century lea rning. All of our schools andclassrooms already face overcrowding and enrollmentisexpected to continue growing.^

    Safe, Energy Efficient Schools Save MoneyBy updating leaky single-paned w indo ws , installing solar panels and replacing old and inefficientequipment with modern h eating, cooling and electrical systems, CSD will be a leader in creatinggreen schools w hile saving a quarter m illion dollars per year in energy costs. This is funding that cango directly back into classroom s to support student achievement.Local Funding to Upgrade Schools that Cannot Be Taken By the StateTo address these pressing issues, the Cambrian School District Board of Trustees is consideringplacing a schoo l repair bond on the June 3 2014 ballot. All funding from this measure w ould becontrolled locally and could not be taken away by the State.CSD values your opinion and participation in our local schools.     Local Funding to Improve and Update Cam br ian SchoolsProviding sa fe, modern classrooms is critical to our stude nts' achieveme nt in CSD. Cambrian School District isconsidering putting a local schoo l bond m easure on the June 3, 2014 ballot. This measure w ould generate anestimated $39 million in local funding to repair and update Cambrian schools. The cos t wou ld be limited to no morethan $30 per $100,000 of assessed (not m arket) value annually.

    Preparing Our Schools and Students for the FutureA potential bond measure would:W Upgrade fire and earthquakesafety Reduce classroom overc rowd ing by providing

    additional classrooms Enhance school safety and security Provide access to 21st-century learning technology Repair or replace leaky win dow sW Maximize energy efficiency by replacing outdated heating,

    cooling and electrical equipmentMandatory Accountability Protections

    All funds wou ld stay in Cambrian SchoolDistrict not a pennycouldbetaken bythe State

    An indep ende nt Citizens' Oversight Committee and annualaudits would ensure all funds are spent in Cambrian SchoolDistrict to repair and upgrade school facilities

    No funds could be used for adm inistrators' salaries,pensions or benefits
