GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE

D ecember is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, which is celebrated on December 8. The first 24 days of December fall during the liturgical sea-son known as Advent and are represented by the liturgical color purple. The remaining days of December mark the beginning of the Christmas sea-

son. The liturgical color changes to white or gold — a symbol of joy, purity and inno-cence. Our Council Christmas Party is approaching rapidly on the 5th. It will be in St. John’s

Hall starting around 5:30. There will be more details in the bulletin, and in last month’s.

On the same day is our semi-annual blood drive at St. Kathryn’s Hall. Volunteers are always needed to help set up, helping the Red Cross, and packing up.

NOVEMBER 2015

Each month we recognize a Knight’s family for their faith in action. Our Grand Knight will present a certificate of recognition during the regular meeting. You can nominate a Knight/Family— just send Jeff Lalmond your recom-mendation by the last day of the month. ([email protected]). It’s a nice way to show our admiration for knights and families living their faith.

The kidney fund has helped many New Hamp-shire citizens to defray prescription drug costs associated with dialysis and kidney fail-ure. The Council monthly 50/50 drawing tick-ets are sold for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 and profits from this raffle go to the state kidney fund. I hope you will support efforts to in-crease our councils contribution to this very worthwhile state project. Vivat Jesus -- PDGK Peter Cantara

(HAIRCUTS FOR CHARITY) PGK Peter Deschenes will be cutting hair the 1st Monday of every month at Matibos Salon next to St. Kathryn’s church. The monies raised will help support seminarians from St. Kathryn’s and sup-port Knights of Columbus charitable work. Monies will also go to the Nashua Children’s Home and St. Kathryn’s Youth Camp. For an appointment call Matibos at 880-6310.

Our GK has asked that we provide as many brothers as possible the oppor-

tunity to lead the rosary. If you’d like to lead the rosary before the Wednesday meeting, please contact Jeff Lalmond at 603-718-8958. Jeff will show you where Fr. Joe has asked us to store the prayer guides.

Join us for a fun night of cross-cribbage the 1st Friday of each month at Infant Jesus church hall. 7:00PM (The December meet will be at St. John’s due to conflict of dates.)

Knights of Columbus Council 5162 Soccer Challenge Results Last month, the Knights of Columbus Council 5162 of Hudson, NH hosted their annual Soccer Challenge at the Alvirne soccer fields in Hudson. The competition was a skills contest to determine how many out of 15 penalty shots of vary-ing degrees of difficulty, the youth could make. The kids had the option of going for the easier 5 point shot or chal-lenge themselves with the more difficult 10 or even 20 point shots. On a beautiful sunny day, we had a record num-ber of boys and girls participate in the contest this year. Once again, the Knights of Columbus partnered w/ the Hudson Rec Department for this event and we appreciate all they do for the youth of Hudson. Special thanks to Chrissy Peterson of the Rec Dept. who was instrumental in help-ing the Knights make this event happen. The award ceremony took place in the Rodgers Memorial Library last week. Congratulations to all our winners!!! Special shout out to Cameron Bickford who had the highest point total of the day.

Our winners (not all pictured here) were: Lisette Beauchemin, Cameron Bickford, Julia Camerano, Jaylyn Daigle, Dominic Grella, Elliott Hill, Liam Ireland, Kinsley Jurewicz, Brooke Martin, Tegan Moreschi, Jillian Nangle, Exadria Peables, Greyson Polleck, Corey Provencher and Shayla Stevens. Look for an announcement in January for the Knight’s Basketball Free Throw Competition to be held on Saturday January 9th at 4 PM at the Community Center in Hudson.
