SUNY Canton is Northern New York’s premier college for career-driven bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees and certificate programs. The college delivers quality hands-on programs in engineering technology, health, management and public service. Faculty members are noted for their professional real-world experience in addition to outstanding academic credentials. SUNY Canton OnLine offers hundreds of flexible and convenient courses as well as ten exclusively online bachelor’s degrees. The college’s 14 athletic teams compete as members of the NCAA Division III.

Scholarships are available. You’ll be sent a scholarship form to complete and return to the Office of Admissions if you are eligible. You are encouraged to check out local scholarships in your community for additional funding. Most high school guidance offices will provide a list of available community scholarships in your area.

Paying for college is often a concern. The first step is to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To get a FAFSA application go to www.fafsa.gov online. Prospective students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA by March 1.

School of Science, Health, and Criminal JusticeThe College’s largest school offers numerous majors in the health, medical, criminal justice, and sports management professions. Nationally accredited programs present a strong academic foundation along with applied technical skills.

• The Newell Veterinary Technology Center features the latest technology and veterinary equipment.

• Nursing and Dental Hygiene are two of our most in-demand two- and four-year degrees.

• Our Criminal Investigation curriculum is the only one of its kind in the eastern United States. Students solve crimes, intern at police stations and partake in real-world scenarios.

• The Homeland Security four-year program perfectly complements the existing Criminal Investigation and Law Enforcement Leadership programs and prepares graduates to work in private security firms, private industry, or federal, state, or local criminal justice agencies.

• The Liberal Arts degree offers a variety of course options to assist students with future career planning and meeting educational goals.

• Our degree programs prepare students for careers in management, law, child study, journalism, public administration, human services, finance, and other in-demand fields.

• The School welcomed an Applied Psychology Bachelor of Science degree program in fall 2012. Employers are already inquiring about graduates to fill positions in human service agencies.

• The Early Childhood program offers personal interaction with dedicated faculty members and off-campus field experiences with established childcare providers.

Residence HallsSUNY Canton has five residence halls overlooking the Grasse River. They are steps away from the College’s academic and student-centered buildings and a 10-minute walk to downtown Canton by crossing the College’s two new footbridges.

Taco Bell and KFC Express are located in the heart of the Miller Campus Center. They are accompanied by North Country favorite Jreck’s Subs.

Chaney Dining Center is conveniently located near the residence halls and serves great meals seven days a week. Meal plan options available include 10 or 14 weekly meals or a block meal plan providing 150 meals a semester.

No cash? No problem! Most meal plans include a Roo Express Credit that can be used at any of the eateries on campus and at a number of other locations in the community. Both a Roo Express Credit and the five-meal weekly plan are available for commuter and on-campus students.

Eat Anywhere! There are four other places to grab a quick bite to eat, including the Cyber Cafe, which proudly serves Starbucks™ Coffee.

Dining On CampusLifestyle OptionsLive with friends - Kennedy Hall is a beautiful and modern residence hall offering apartment-style living quarters with single rooms. The two- and four-bedroom suites are typically reserved for third- and fourth-year students.

Theme Housing:• The Pet Wing allows residents to bring small, caged pets from

home.• A Gamer Floor for students with a special interest in video,

board and card games.• Team Roo! is a specially designated area for students playing

sports, intramurals, or who are athletically inclined.

Other Housing Options:• The Traditional Female Floor is reserved for women only.• The Honors Floor is designated for students interested in the

academic honors program and who excelled academically in high school.

• Non-Themed Housing are in co-ed wings and are suited best for students who are looking for a more traditional-style college living experience.

Ways to PlayWhether you want to compete at a high level, stay in shape, or just have fun, SUNY Canton has something for every incoming student.

SUNY Canton features 14 varsity teams and is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA),

as well as a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). The

Kangaroos play teams from all over the Northeast.

The College has a dedicated coaching and athletic staff who are focused on their team’s academic and overall well-being as part of the SUNY Canton experience.

Great FacilitiesStudent-athletes and students who want to stay fit are invited to use the College’s premiere Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center, nicknamed Roos House. The College has intramural programs, club teams and pick-up games in many sports such as flag football, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, and many more.

SUNY Canton OnLine is one of the top distance learning programs in the SUNY system and offers approximately 500 courses annually.

More than 5,000 students, both on- and off-campus, took at least one online course last year. The College also offers accelerated online courses during its summer and winter sessions.

Transfer TodayIt is important to plan early to ensure that you will receive an evaluation of all credits that may be applied to a program of study at SUNY Canton. Applicants previously registered at another college or university are considered transfer students.

The best way to see SUNY Canton is to schedule a tour when college is in session. You can discuss your major and career options as well as college life. The Office of Admissions offers guided tours Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Most future applicants add an interview with an admissions counselor and a meeting with a financial aid staff member.
