Elementary • Secondary ere was once a town founded on a point of land between tworivers, which would grow and evolve around its public square. Explore Montréal's history as you roam through authentic archaeological remains, with virtual experiences, hands-on fun,touch screens and 3D images. Elementary (Grades 4, 5 and 6) • Secondary 19th-century Montréal. British leaders have embarked on some spectacular projects. e industrial revolution is in full swing andthere is much to be done: paving the way for business, buildingwharves, digging a canal to avoid the rapids, installing the aqueduct,replacing sailing ships with steamships and more. But what exactlydoes “progress” mean? rough this guided tour and role-playing exercise and as they explore a new interactive fresco, your studentswill learn about the huge British contribution to Montréal society.

December 9, 2015 to April 17, 2016SecondaryEveryone knows this prolific, world-famous author. But did you know that many of her novels have an archaeological dimension? In this original exhibition, young visitors can learn about an unknownside of Agatha Christie: an imaginative woman, an avid traveller and explorer who was very open to other cultures.

Hey, what’s going on in the Museum’s multimedia room? e remainsare moving, the years are counting down – the millennia, the centuries and the years are spinning by, an island appears and then a city… “Hi there! It’s me, Montréal! And you are right here, on Callière’s point! Want to find out the rest of my story? I’m waiting foryou in a very special room unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else –equipped with a 270° screen. Open your eyes wide and listen up!”

Elementary Cycles 2 and 3 • Secondary Cycle 1 This workshop is the perfect opportunity to find out what archaeologists do. Under the supervision of a chief archaeologist(interpreter-guide), your students will use the scientific approachto conduct an investigation. They’ll dig in the ground, find tracesfrom the days when Natives camped here right up until the British regime, analyze their finds in a laboratory and learn howpeople lived in days gone by.

Water Ways!

Elementary Cycle 3 • Secondary Cycle 1We’ve come a long way since people used to draw their drinkingwater straight from the St. Lawrence and dump their wastewater in the street! Water has a whole history of its own. In this multidisciplinary workshop, your students will be joined by ourfriendly mascot, Romeo the sewer rat, as they learn about how Montrealers have found ingenious ways to manage this precious resource all the way back to the 17th century. ey will be immersedin some vital issues – access to drinking water and wastewater management through the years, right up until today.

Growing up in ville-Marie

Elementary Cycles 1 and 2 Walking on the Pointe à Callière site, crossing a little river and goingto market is all much more fun when you get to wear a habitant’sapron or a noblewoman’s cloak or carry the parish priest’s breviary.Students learn about how French and Native children lived backthen and even try some old-time games. Bilboquet isn’t aseasy as it looks!

Elementary Cycles 1, 2 and 3 Long before Europeans arrived, the St. Lawrence Iroquoians wereliving in villages of longhouses on Montréal Island and all along the St. Lawrence River. See how they lived from day to day, how they used the furs and bones of the animals they hunted, how they preparedtheir food every day, and more. Your students will be captivated by the ingenuity and know-how of the members of this aboriginal nation.Can they use the same skills?

Elementary Cycles 2 and 3 • Secondary Cycle 1 Lots has happened on the Pointe à Callière site over the centuries, for travellers were forced to stop here by the Lachine rapids. Nativepeople spent time here, at first fishing and gathering food, and thenlater to attend the annual fur fair with the French, and to sign theGreat Peace treaty in Montreal in 1701. Your students will explore thesite’s Native history with the help of models, artifacts and remains.

Studentswill learn about the Celtic origins of Halloween and related beliefs(thrills and chills guaranteed). Everyone knows that the Museum’s remains are haunted! All kinds of strange things happen there, with old stories popping up everywhere! Will it be scary? Maybe. One thing is certain – your senses will be on high alert and you’re in for some fun and surprising experiences. Ready? You go first!

Who is the real santa claus?

Final confirmation of the number of students: Ten working days before your Museum visit, you must confirm the exact number of students. You will be billed for this number of participants when you arrive at the Museum.

Cancellations: In the event of a cancellation less than ten days before your scheduled date, you will be billed 30% of the total cost of your reservation.

Payment: e full amount is payable on arrival at the Museum, or wecan bill you. Please make your cheque payable to Pointe-à-Callière.

Arrival: All participants should be at the Museum at least 15 minutes before their tour/activity starts.

Dividing up your groups before you get to the Museum:To speed things along and help us serve you better, we would ask you to please subdivide your group into the number of smallergroups indicated (maximum size per group) on your confirmation form.
