How to Apply for Scholarships
**The first and most important tip - do not procrastinate when applying** What does procrastinate mean, you may ask?
Well, it means the action of delaying or postponing something. Let’s not go there!
Here is the basic order of applying:
1) How to choose and where to find scholarships - Choose scholarships you qualify for and are interested in by looking through the Scholarship Packets located in the CCRC, on Schoology, and on the school website.
2) Deadlines and delivery methods – This falls on you! Be sure to pay close attention to both of those. Put scholarships into that order so you complete the ones that are due first. The best rule of thumb would be to complete the scholarship BEFORE the due date. (The CCRC is responsible for some and you are responsible for some)
3) Letter of Recommendations - If any scholarships require a counselor or teacher Letter of Recommendation, fill
out a request form and give it to them. They MUST be given at least one week to complete this.
4) Transcript Request – this will be the last thing you complete. After you have finished with all parts of your scholarship application, fill out a transcript request (for one scholarship) or the multiple scholarship transcript request form (for more than one/blue form). **Be sure that it really does need an OFFICIAL transcript. Many only need an unofficial. They will specify.**
Counselor/Teacher Letter of Recommendation Request for Scholarships Please use this form and give to your counselor or teacher if you need a letter of recommendation for a SCHOLARSHIP. Student Name: ________________________________ Teacher Name: ______________________________ Name of scholarship: ________________________________________________________________________ Date Needed: _______________________ (remember, they need at least 1 WEEK to complete this) Has my Teacher Recommendation Questionnaire, which is on Naviance located under the ‘about me’ tab, been completed? Yes _____ No _____ If no, when will it be completed? _____________________ Teacher/Counselor – are you able to do this for the student? Yes ________ No __________ If yes, what is the estimated date you can have it completed/back: ______________ **Do you have one already done that you can adjust/use? Yes ____ No ____ If so, please feel free to do that! Student Signature: _____________________________ Date: _____________ Teacher Signature: _____________________________ Date: _____________
