A Letter from our Executive Director

This year, Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama celebrated our 25th anniversary. It has been a wonderful year of growth for ACA as we have expanded our programs and are serving more local families than ever. In celebration of this milestone, ACA launched a new collaboration to provide eight local day care centers with trained professionals to conduct music, art and movement based therapies. Our hope is to elevate the quality of care provided to our patients by this unregulated industry.

In 2016, we also provided the following to families in central Alabama:

• 57,600 scholarship hours of respite care at adult day care centers • 95,040 continence products, including gloves & wipes, delivered

to homes• 73 Project Lifesaver bracelets for patients at risk for wandering• 2,763 hours of community education for families and professionals• 727 hours of support group counseling• 14,000 newsletters distributed• Funding of our 24th research grant at an Alabama university

Your donations and our invaluable community partners make these programs possible. This year, we are focusing on the important issue of patient wandering (six out of ten Alzheimer’s and dementia patients are at risk). Thank you for believing in our mission and being a part of the good work we are doing!

Make a good memory,

Miller Piggott Executive Director
