CAREER: The 31-year-old outfielder returned to Texas after signing a minor league contract with an invite to spring training on 2/26…finished the 2015 campaign with Texas, serving a pinch runner and defensive replacement over the final weeks of the regular season and postseason…the right-handed batter and thrower has played in 842 major league games with Cincinnati (2009-12), Cleveland (2013), Colorado (2014-15), and Texas (2015), playing primarily center field…he had 3 consecutive 30-steal seasons from 2010-12, including a career-best 40 stolen bases in 2011…he is one of just 7 major leaguers with at least 5 seasons of 10+ home runs and 10+ stolen bases over the last 6 seasons (2010-15)...he was a finalist for the 2012 Rawlings Gold Glove for National League centerfielders…a native of Atlanta, Texas, Stubbs attended the University of Texas at Austin before being selected in the first round (eighth overall) by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2006 June draft…he was a member of the Longhorns’ 2005 College World Series championship team, a squad which included former Ranger Taylor Teagarden.

TEXAS: Had contract purchased from Round Rock (AAA) on 9/1 and went 2-for-21 with no HR or RBI in 27 games for the Rangers…had 5 starts (3 in CF, 2 in LF), including 3 starts in a 4-game span from 9/6-9…both hits came in span of 2 games on 9/19-20 vs. SEA, the latter a double off Felix Hernandez in that series finale…scored winning run on Mitch Moreland walk-off sac fly 9/15 vs. HOU, as Rangers overtook Astros for 1st place in the A.L. West…had a running catch, followed by a leaping collision with the wall in right-center, to end win on 9/29 vs. DET…the Ian Kinsler drive likely would have scored the tying and go-ahead runs, instead Texas snapped a 3-game losing streak…signed minors contract with Rangers on 8/24 and hit .222 (6-27) with a 2B and 3 BB in 7 G with Round Rock.

COLORADO: Batted .216 with 5 HR and 10 RBI in 51 games over 2 stints with the Rockies (Opening Day-5/19 and 7/2-8/11) before he was designated for assignment on 8/12 and unconditionally released on 8/22…opened the season with an 0-21 span before his 1st hit on 5/1 at SD (HR)…it was the longest season-opening hitless streak snapped with a home run since 2012, when MIL’s Brooks Conrad opened the year 0-27…also played 38 games for Albuquerque (AAA) this season, batting .263 with 2 HR and 20 RBI.

POSTSEASON: Has appeared in 12 career postseason games, including 4 of 5 games for Texas in the 2015 ALDS vs. Toronto…had just one plate appearance in that series, striking out as a pinch-hitter in the 8th inning of Game 4 in Arlington…started all previous 8 NLDS games with Cincinnati in center, batting .179 (5-28) in Reds’ series losses to Philadelphia (2010) and San Francisco (2012)…Cole Hamels posted a shutout for the Phillies to finish off the 2010 series sweep at Great American Ball Park, and Stubbs was 0-for-3 in Roy Halladay’s perfect game to open that series…Reds lost final 3 games in the 2012 series against the Giants, but Stubbs hit safely in 4 of the 5 games in that series.

2014: Went to Colorado in an offseason trade with Cleveland that sent LHP Josh Outman to the Indians…played at least 130 games for the 5th straight season…set career highs in average (.289), on-base pct.
