ARTISTIC DIRECTOR KEITH LOCKHART assumed the role of principal conductor of the Brevard Music Center in 2007. Maestro Lockhart is an alumnus of the Brevard Music Center, having attended as a student in 1974 and 1975.
In August 2010, Keith Lockhart was appointed seventh principal conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra and subsequently led the Orchestra in concert as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration. Meanwhile, across the pond, he celebrates his twentieth anniversary season as conductor of the Boston Pops, where he has added his artistic vision to the Pops tradition established by his predecessors John Williams and Arthur Fiedler. He introduced the innovative JazzFest and EdgeFest series and has conducted the Pops in more than 1,400 concerts as well as numerous tours, television shows, and the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, broadcast nationally and watched by 10 million viewers each July 4th.
Keith Lockhart served as music director of the Utah Symphony from 1998-2009. He previously served as associate conductor of both the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops Orchestras. As a guest conductor, he has appeared with the Symphony Orchestras of Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Minnesota, Montreal, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Baltimore, Atlanta, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Singapore, Toronto, and Vancouver as well as the Los Angeles and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Canada), and the Philharmonics of New York and Los Angeles. Moreover, he has conducted the New York Chamber Symphony, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Amsterdam), the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the NHK Symphony (Japan), and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. In the opera world, he has worked with the Atlanta Opera, National Opera (Kennedy Center), Boston Lyric Opera, and Utah Opera.
Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, Keith Lockhart began his musical studies with piano lessons at the age of seven. He holds degrees from Furman University in Greenville, SC, and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

ParkingWhittington-Pfohl Auditorium parking lot remains open during the entire season and is free for ticket holders in non-reserved areas. Parking on the hill may be reserved through the box office for $5 per event. Complimentary parking in prime auditorium spots is offered to Maestro Society Members.
Brevard Music Center OrchestraThe Brevard Music Center Orchestra is BMC’s flagship ensemble led by Artistic Director Keith Lockhart and renowned guest conductors throughout the season. The majority of the Music Center’s instrumental faculty performs in the ensemble, leading sections of College Division students.
Brevard SinfoniaStudents in the Music Center’s College Division comprise the Brevard Sinfonia. This ensemble will present one performance each week beginning with the June 26 program featuring Keith Lockhart and violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.
Brevard Concert OrchestraThe Brevard Concert Orchestra features Brevard Music Center’s talented high school students. The BCO presents three concerts throughout the season culminating with Maestro Lockhart leading the orchestra in a performance of Sibelius’s Second Symphony.
Brevard Festival OrchestraComprised of Brevard’s artist faculty and College Division students, the Brevard Festival Orchestra is the central ensemble for opera productions and special concerts.
Brevard Symphonic WindsHigh school woodwind, brass, and percussion students make up the Brevard Symphonic Winds led by Kraig Alan Williams. The BSW performs throughout the summer, including the Pendergrast Family Patriotic Pops concert on July 4.
itchitch is an ensemble comprised of instrumentalists in the College Division who have demonstrated ability and interest in the performance of new music. The ensemble performs new works by BMC’s composition students in four New Music concerts throughout the summer.

Phone and In Person The box office will be open for phone and walk-up orders beginning Monday, May 2. Call (828) 862-2105 or visit the box office, located at the entrance to Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium on the Brevard Music Center campus.
All ticket orders are subject to NC Sales Tax (6.75%). In addition, single tickets are subject to a $2.50 per ticket fee. Subscriptions are charged $8 per transaction with no per-ticket charge.

Lawn Tickets are available for all performances at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium. All lawn patrons must have a valid ticket.
With a valid student ID, students 18 and older may sit on the lawn free of charge.* Children 17 and under may sit on the lawn free of charge* with a paying adult.
Children and Student Tickets are available for $15 for children 6-17 years of age. Students 18 and older receive a 50% discount for tickets inside Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium. Children under 6 are not permitted inside Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium.

Exchanges are available up to 24 hours before the exchanged event. Unused tickets can be turned in for a tax deduction. Subscription tickets may be exchanged for events not currently included within your series. Subscription tickets may not be exchanged for BMC Presents or Opening Night. Refunds are not available.
Pets are not allowed in or around the area of the Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium during a performance. Properly identified service animals are permitted in all areas in which BMC patrons are allowed.
*Lawn tickets for students and children are not available for Print-at-Home or mail delivery when purchased online, and must be picked up at the box office with the child present, or with a valid student ID. Complimentary lawn tickets are not available for BMC Presents.
