EASTER
SUNDAY
2
As we move rapidly toward Holy Week, there are many wonderful activities planned to re-
mind us of Jesus journey into and through Jerusalem.
Messy Church: On Thursday, March 17th
, children and adults from the church and sur-
rounding community are invited to participate in “Messy Easter” from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. in
the education wing. As we play games and do some painting, we’ll be talking about Jesus’
journey from his entry into Jerusalem to the cross and resurrection. If you have children or
grandchildren who’d like to participate, feel free to bring them! Be sure to watch around the
church for special artwork the children are going to create as their contribution to our wor-
ship.
Palm Sunday: On Palm Sunday, Scott Rosenthal has graciously agreed to bring not only his
donkey, but some baby goats and some bunnies. The animals will be available in front of
the church from 9:45 – 10:15 for children to see and pet. Bring your own children or
grandchildren and invite friends and neighbors to come see the animals, and join us for
breakfast. We’ll have breakfast downstairs beginning at 9:30, then at 10:20 we’ll gather
for our annual Palm Sunday Parade with our palm branches and the miniature donkey.
Maundy Thursday: Thursday, March 24th, is Maundy Thursday. We’ll gather in Fellowship
Hall at 6 p.m. for a light meal of soup, followed by a communion service to commemo-
rate the Last Supper. Remember to bring travel size items to church for the hygiene
packs we plan to make for the homeless that evening!
Good Friday: Friday, March 25th, is Good Friday. Prayer Stations will be available in the
Fireside Room for you to explore between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday. Those who par-
ticipated last year found the prayer stations very meaningful. I know you’ll want to invite a
friend to participate in this special, quiet, contemplative time with God.
Prayer Vigil: Saturday, March 26th we’ll hold a Prayer Vigil. This year’s vigil will take place in
the comfort of your own home. Choose the time that works best for you, and commit to 30
minutes of prayer as you lift up individuals, the church and the community around it, and
the world. Remember to add in some quiet time so that you can just listen for what God has
to say to you. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if on Easter Sunday every person in the congregation
is able to say, “I spent important time in prayer yesterday as I prepared for Easter.”
Easter: On Easter Sunday, we’ll flower our cross to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.
Be sure to bring something from your garden to decorate the cross. With all the beauti-
ful things that are already blooming, I’m sure you’ll find some wonderful items to bring to
church. In addition, we’d like people to bring a pot of your favorite spring flowers to dec-
orate the chancel. After worship, you can reclaim them and take them to someone who was
unable to celebrate Easter with us.
I am looking forward to our spiritual journey together over the coming days.
Journeying with Jesus,
Donna
Kairos
