Early Ed Bible Class Available All Sessions Today

1 Peter We Are Refugees (Sessions 1 & 2) First Peter is about acknowledging that the only grace worth having is found in Jesus. First Peter is about humbling your mind. It is about learning to rest in God’s goodness. In this letter, Peter tells us how to endure struggles, show true love to others, follow leadership, and lead others. In these two sessions, we will learn that no matter what we encounter, it is possible to find peace in who God is and what He wants to do. There is a way for us “refugees” on this earth—us Christians—to find “home” in Jesus.

2 Peter Contend for the Faith (Sessions 3 & 4) Subtle lies can creep into our lives under the guise of sincerity and truth. And while these influences might be difficult to discern, their effects can be devastating—lies can destroy families, churches, and communities. Presenting the truth in love and sincerity is a pillar of being a Christian. 2 Peter warns that we cannot be lethargic in our faith. We will be susceptible to untruth—unless we actively seek to grow.

In these two sessions, we will learn how pursuing God through prayer, understanding Him through His Word, and relying on the Holy Spirit form our best defense against false teaching. We will see God’s view of the world and our place within it. We will understand what it means to contend for the faith.

Engaging, interactive Bible class designed with EE professionals in mind!

PRESENTER: Rev. Dennis Mohler, Pastor – Whittier, CA

Subtle lies can creep into our lives under the guise of sincerity and truth.

GENERAL SESSION NOTES

How will what I am hearing today impact my teaching/nurturing of young children? God see me as significant in the life of children. How do I see myself? Write down two practical, achievable ways you will be intentional about seeing the children in your care THROUGH GOD’S EYES.

THROUGH GOD’S EYES By Melissa McKenzie, [email protected] www.mosaicconceptions.com

SEE YOURSELF THROUGH GOD’S EYES AS YOU… REIGNITE your passion for early childhood

REDISCOVER your joy of sharing God’s love and truth with children

REFUEL your heart and soul as we fill up with God’s good stuff!!

REIGNITE Why Early Childhood? It’s all about your passion.

Check your attitude – Good or bad, attitudes are contagious

Remember, you are the master of your attitude (The story of the donkey and the farmer)

Check your expectations “If you look for the good in people expecting to find it, you surely will.” (Abraham Lincoln)

REDISCOVER The joy of sharing God’s love and Truth

Even with that ONE!

The Story of the Starfish

Page 21: 2017 ACSI Southern California Early Education Conference ... Education... · 2017 ACSI Southern California Early Education Conference ... 2017 ACSI Southern California Early Education

19 2017 ACSI Southern California Early Education Conference La Mirada, CA

Let your joy shine for all to see o Sharing Bible lessons o Singing “Jesus Songs” o Praying with the children o Being intentional throughout the day

REFUEL God is waiting We need to fill up with God’s good stuff so we have something to pour out onto the children. Think about it…

God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. (1 John 4:9-10)

Requires action on our part Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

Running on empty o When you don’t refuel, it is impossible to radiate God’s glory to those around you. o Check your source o Know yourself (Mary vs. Martha)

THREE STEPS TO REFUEL (check out: Refuel by Doug Field, 2011)

o STOP – just 5 minutes o BE QUIET (1 Kings 19:11-3; Psalm 46:10) o MAKE A CONNECTION (it’s okay if it’s messy)

SEE YOURSELF THROUGH GOD’S EYES ♥ “His calling you means that He has chosen you above anyone else to do what He is asking.” (Priscilla Shirer)

♥ God sees you as significant – an integral part of His plan. God doesn’t need us to partner with Him but He still chooses to ask.

♥ Children are borrowing our faith for a little while, make it a faith worth borrowing
