Overview of Alumni

FindingsDuring the summer semester of 2017, the Office of Institutional Research surveyed alumni who graduated in spring/summer 2016 using an online survey instrument with contacts made through email and social media. The response rate was 40% of the accessible population. The questionnaire consisted of 4 sections: level of impact, level of satisfaction with the campus culture, employment and educational experiences after graduation, and alumni involvement.

Responses describing the impact that experiences at Lane College had on the attainment of several of the goals of a liberal arts education revealed that the 9 impact items reflected a mean major impact rating of 52%.

Alumni are generally satisfied with most of their experiences on campus – out of nine items four equaled or exceeded 80% combined satisfaction: (1) the institution’s concern or students as individuals, (2) individual attention from faculty, (3) the overall quality of instruction, (4) sense of pride about the campus, and (5) overall educational experience at Lane College.

Seventy-six percent of the respondents are employed full time, and 48% report earnings of under $20,000 per year.

Forty-four percent of the respondents are enrolled in graduate or professional school.

Forty-eight percent of the respondents have returned to campus to attend athletic events, 38% have returned for homecoming and 10% have returned for Founder’s Day.

5 My last year at Lane the job and professional fair had very little opportunities and most did notcover jobs that related to majors offered at Lane. I went off to graduate school after graduating butI have had such a hard time finding internships or fellowships and entry level job opportunities andI believe that's where I and Lane dropped the ball bring more opportunities to the campus forcurrent students as well as alums.
