Marriage: The Archdiocese of Winnipeg requires at least six
months notice prior to the wedding. In addition, you must also be a
registered member in good standing. Marriage Preparation Course
obligatory.

LENT is the season in which we prepare joyfully for the mystery
of Easter with minds and hearts renewed. The community of faith is
blessed with a spirit of loving reverence for God and of willing
service to neighbour. It is a time for more intense prayer and
reflection and for
particular attention to the word of God. Our Lenten observances:
fasting, prayer and charity during the forty days of Lent help us
to refocus our attention on God, to restore our relationship with
God, and to recommit our lives to God. Prayer opens our hearts and
minds to God. The Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and
concludes before the evening mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy
Thursday.
ASH WEDNESDAY - March 1 - The beginning of the Season of Lent
and the season of preparation for Easter. Through fasting, prayer
and charity (almsgiving) during the forty days of Lent, we prepare
to renew our baptism at Easter. This is a time of renewal of heart.
The ashes that touch our
heads remind us that we have entered a new time, a sacred time,
a time of rebirth. Lent is an extended time for us to reawaken to
life. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the two days that fast and
abstinence from meat prevail. Please note the Evening Mass on this
day will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m.
POLISH LENTEN RETREAT will begin in our parish on Sunday, March
5 and end on Wednesday, March 8. Fr. Daniel Biedniak, OMI,
Missionary from Poland, will be leading the Retreat. The schedule
is as follows: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00
p.m. The Knights of Columbus are inviting everyone to our parish
hall for a gathering with the Missionary following the Masses on
Wednesday at which time they will also be selling potato pancakes
and pastry.
LENTEN DEVOTIONS: Stations of the Cross will be held in our
Church every Friday at
6:00 p.m. in Polish; First Friday at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays
at 4:30 p.m. in English
Gorzkie Zale (Lenten Lamentations) will be Sundays at 5:30
p.m.
FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH - March 3. We invite all to
participate in Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m. followed by Mass
at 7:00 p.m. Confessions will be heard one hour before Mass begins.
Visitation of the sick and elderly will also take place on this
day. Those who would like a priest to visit are asked to call our
office and we will add those names to our visiting list.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT is every First Friday in our
Chapel from 7:30—9:00 p.m.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - All are invited to participate in the
Annual World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. at St.
Peter’s Church (748 Keewatin St). The theme for this year is “Am I
Being Unfair To You?” Service has been written by the WDP of the
Philippines.
YEAR 2017 SUNDAY OFFERTORY ENVELOPES may still be picked up in
the Aikins Avenue foyer. The first envelope in the set is the
“Initial Offering” which is to help cover the expense for printing
these envelopes. Those who would like a set are asked to contact
our office.
INCOME TAX RECEIPTS 2016 may be picked up in our parish office
during regular office hours. These will only be mailed upon
request.

Today’s Gospel reminds us that we cannot serve both God and
mammon. This means we must choose either to serve our own selfish
desires, or choose to serve God and strive to love him above all

PARISH SOUND SYSTEM - We have installed a new sound system
throughout the Church to improve the quality and sound. The entire
cost of the equipment and installation was $20,000 which was a very
good price for this type of work. We are appealing to all
parishioners who have not yet done so to please help in our
fundraiser for this project. All donations are eligible for your
Income Tax receipt. To date we have received: $15,700.00. Thank you

PARISH RADIO PROGRAM has been broadcast for many years on CKJS
810 AM Radio. Each month we must pay $1,333.00 which amounts to
$16,000.00 annually. This program is listened to by many,
especially the sick and elderly and those not able to be with us at
our Masses. We are now fundraising for this program for the Year
2017. To date, we have collected $1,545.00. A sincere thank you to

HOLY GHOST FRATERNAL AID SOCIETY will be having a meeting today,
Sunday, February 19 at 2:30 p.m.
BAPTISM PREPARATION FOR PARENTS AND GODPARENTS – next class will
be on Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Board Room. Entrance
through office doors.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE will be held in our Church on
Friday, March 3; Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5. This course
is mandatory as it is a prerequisite in our Archdiocese for all
couples planning to be married this year in our Church. Please call
our parish office for information or to register.
FISH FRY - The Knights of Columbus are inviting everyone to
their “Fish Fry” in our parish hall on Sunday, March 19 following
the 8:00, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Masses. Cost is $12 for adults and $6
for children. Tickets will soon
be available in our parish kiosk, our parish parking lot or the
parish office. They are asking to please buy your tickets early so
they may know the amount of fish and food to purchase.

PARISH PARKING LOT - We are asking everyone to please not park
between the rows of parked cards in our parking lot on Sundays.
There were problems last Sunday following the Brunch in that
parishioners were not able to leave as their cars were blocked by
other vehicles. This is a serious hazard should an emergency occur
and the fire department or ambulance would not be able to exit our
parking lot due to the obstruction of parked cars. We ask for your
understanding, patience and understanding in this matter.
