International Trips Dominican Republic: Freedom Chrisan School This will be our fiſth J-Term trip partnering with Freedom Chrisan School in the Dominican Republic. Students serve in the morning in the English Immersion Preschool or in construcon at Freedom School. The aſternoons will be spent leading either village or camp ministry. We will stay in missionary housing (apartment style). Students are in charge of preparing breakfast and lunch. Dinner is provided for the team. Part of the experience in the DR is living in a community and working in cooperaon with the missionaries at Freedom. Dominican Republic: Sports This is an incredible hands-on opportunity to serve the people in Juan Dolio and the Boca Chica area. This team will be proclaiming the gospel of God’s grace through work and service projects, sports clinics (specifically baseball), actual baseball games against local Dominican teams and life- on-life ministry in local villages. Baseball skill and knowledge is required along with a good atude and work ethic. National Trips Marine Science Crash Course, Florida Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a scienst in the field? This trip is designed to allow science students to be researchers in Key West at the MarineLab facility. During this one week experience, students will be sciensts; learning, doing field work and conducng experiments. Students will eat and sleep on campus in the dorm style accommodaons. Snorkel gear and wet suits are the uniforms each day. The trip will end with a fantasc tour of the Everglades Naonal Park. January is the perfect me of year to visit this rich biodiverse park. Atlanta City of Refuge Mission Trip, Georgia The City of Refuge is a shelter for women & children in Atlanta. The residents live there for 6 months while they work to find income and housing. It is a faith based organizaon that works to build relaonships with the residents. Their focus is doing things with the residents and not for the residents. Our group will parcipate in basic projects in the kitchen, light construcon in the morning and then parcipaon in the aſter school programs in the aſternoon. Our students will parcipate in family acvies at night, including an ice-cream social ,corn hole, basketball, karaoke night, and more! Transportaon to and in Atlanta will be via a CCS Bus. Students will be staying in the housing provided by City of Refuge which is dorm style housing. Snowshoe, West Virginia Have we got a week for you! Whether you are an experienced skier/snowboarder or an absolute beginner, Snowshoe Ski Resort in West Virginia is the place to improve your skills, with 57 trails geared to appeal to all ability levels. Also, with 1500 feet of vercal rise, Snowshoe has the most vercal feet and the most acreage for skiing of any resort south of New England. The top of the mountain is near 5,000 feet elevaon. In the evenings, we will share meals, enjoy devoons together, and spend free me socializing and having fun. We will visit the University of Virginia and Liberty University on our way back to Charloe. Local Local Service Projects Opportunity to serve at various non-profit organizaons/ministries throughout Charloe for the week. We will make a stop each day at a different organizaon. Possibilies include: Beds for Kids, Landsdowne Elementary School, Charloe Rescue Mission, Project 658 & more! There will be four groups of 15 students each (due to organizaon limitaons) vising different sites each day. Internships Students have the opportunity to intern with local businesses and organizaons for the week of January 9-13. Students are required to intern 30 hours over the course of the week. It is the student’s responsibility to secure their own internship in the organizaon of their choice. Internship detailed informaon should be confirmed with Mrs. Lenhardt by November 30. If your internship is not confirmed by that date, you will be enrolled in the local service project group. Drivers’ Educaon Students must be 14 1/2 years old by the me the class meets to parcipate. Jordan Driving School will be the instructor. Note: This class does not include the “behind the wheel” part of Drivers’ Educaon. That will need to be scheduled on your own following compleon of instruconal part of the class.
