What is Coaching?
Leaders will be exposed to many opportunities and challenges throughout their career.
Leadership Capacity• Setting a vision for the team• Motivating others to accomplish their goals,
particularly in difficult situations
Personal Effectiveness• Time management, maximizing productivity• Dealing with stress, preventing burnout
Developing Influence• Developing the ability to influence others,
whether “up”, “down”, or “across”
Career Planning• Identifying goals, sticking points• Putting in consistent effort to improve
Team Effectiveness• Managing & resolving conflict with others• Maintaining trust, positivity, accountability
Coaching is a series of powerful conversations that accelerate success.
When working with a professional coach, leaders are given a rare opportunity to talk about obstacles and sticking points that are affecting their life or impeding their professional growth. Coaches ask questions, share impartial observations, and provide tools to help clients reach their goals faster.
Coaching is a unique leadership development tool because clients must set goals and develop action plans in addition to discussing issues. Coaches also hold clients accountable to their goals throughout the process. This way, clients benefit from increased insight, and actually work towards achieving tangible results.
Leadership competencies are developed over time, and building them requires a unique long-‐term approach.
COACHING VS. TRAINING: • Training delivers standard content, whereas coaching is personal and customized to each client’s needs.
• Both coaching and training develop skills, but coaching provides on-‐going support as leaders experiment with and develop new knowledge and behavior over time.
• Training is typically done in short bursts while coaching continues across six to twelve months to “lock in” learning and habits.
COACHING VS. MENTORSHIP:• Mentorship often defaults to advice-‐giving instead of solution-‐finding.
• Mentors exist to give advice from a position of expertise. Coaches work within a process that lets clients ask questions, share observations, and provide tools to accelerate success.
• Unlike mentorship, coaching takes place with someone outside of the firm. This gives clients the freedom and safety to discuss sensitive issues (such as burnout) that they might not be comfortable discussing with a senior member of the firm.
Our Coaching Services
1:1 Coaching Programs
One-‐on-‐one leadership coaching represents over two-‐thirds of our overall coaching work.• In some cases, they are individual contracts and in many others, we manage coaching programs for sets of senior leaders who will create their own individual coaching goals and enjoy their own coaching sessions within the framework of a funded program sponsored by the company.
COACHING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM• Using our unique Coaching Management System, we ensure that all of our coaching programs have goals and deliverables that can be tracked against. • We boast a 98% success rate in helping clients generate new insights and make progress on their goals.
Leadership Development Programs
Blending workshops and 1:1 coaching accelerates the development of leadership skills across teams and organizations.• For companies looking to build leadership frameworks, we have designed a Leadership Development Series that teaches new skills through workshops and reinforces behaviors over time with coaching.• Workshops take place once per month, along with monthly coaching calls.
WORKSHOP TOPICS• Strengths-‐Based Leadership, Effective Communication, Conflict & Failure, Developing Your People, Accountability, Leading Change, Fostering Collaboration
Workshops
Workshops are a great way to spark conversation, create new perspectives, and develop new skills.• We have delivered an extremely wide range of customized workshops on various topics for clients around the world.• In post-‐workshop surveys, over 97% of participants said that the content was valuable to their professional lives.
POTENTIAL TOPICS• Coaching Skills Development, Wellness & Stress Management, Conflict Resolution, Career Planning, Retirement Planning, Personal Branding
Team Effectiveness Coaching
When a team is under pressure to deliver results, conflicts and disagreements can be the difference between success and failure.• In certain situations, a single coach can work with an entire team to increase cohesion and effectiveness. We start by gaining insight from the client and often send out a team survey to get a pulse on the real issues as a starting point. From there, we customize team coaching sessions to guide exploration of the team’s issues and facilitate healthy conflict.• Epiphany has specific training in Team Systems Coaching that help us bring fresh and effective approaches to coaching teams. Team coaching typically covers topics like: constructive interaction, positivity, alignment, trust, accountability or any other dimension of high performing teams.
WHO USES TEAM EFFECTIVENESS COACHING?• Executive teams, special projects teams, teams in crisis• Team effectiveness coaching also boosts the effectiveness of leadership retreats
