Schulich School of Business
2018-2019 Ambassador Program
Page | 1
Hello Schulich Ambassadors,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 Schulich Ambassador Program!
I am thrilled to see so many familiar faces returning to the Ambassador program this year, and
am equally as excited to welcome our new 2022 Ambassadors to the family. By participating in
the Schulich Ambassador Program, you are taking part in a journey towards extensive soft skill
development. Ask any hiring manager out there and they will tell you that students with well-
honed soft skills are the students they want to hire.
The Ambassador Program complements your in-class learning and recognizes your commitment
to personal and career development. By participating in various events throughout the school
year, Ambassadors will practice communication, interpersonal, organization, and leadership
skills. You’re building a tool kit that will serve you well throughout your time at Schulich, and
beyond.
The Schulich Ambassador Handbook outlines your responsibilities as an Ambassador, the
opportunities available to you, and how you are recognized for your participation. Ambassadors
are student leaders who are passionate about service to the Schulich and York community. We
look forward to an amazing year and celebrating your achievements.

The Schulich Ambassador Task Force is a select group of upper year students that have
been chosen to serve as leaders and mentors for Schulich Ambassadors. They serve as
leads during events and organize Ambassador exclusive events to support soft skill
development. Ambassador Task Force members demonstrate leadership at its finest.

Why did you join the Task Force? I joined task force because I

other students, while also being a leader in the Schulich
community. This was an opportunity that allowed me to elevate
my involvement and commitment to the undergraduate life at

Favorite memories or highlight as an Ambassador: This
year, I was told by a first year student that she remembered
me from the Student Panel that I did during Experience York! It
was really great to see that I was able to make a memorable
impact and influence someone to apply and join the Schulich
community.

I am not sharing my story for why I chose Schulich and York

to have a more hands-on experience through training new
ambassadors and working with Rohini on all the logistics of our
events. Being an ambassador allows me to fulfill the desire of
mine to give back to the Schulich community and has helped me
develop valuable soft skills along the way.

Avnit Chhabra – iBBA Candidate, 2020
Joined the Schulich Ambassador Program: Fall 2016
Joined the Task Force: Fall 2018
Why did you join the Task Force? I joined the Task Force
because I wanted to give back to Schulich for all the wonderful
opportunities it has provided me with. And I know through this
role I will be able to help the incoming students with their
experience or transition at Schulich just the way previous Task
Force members have for me.
Favorite memories or highlight as an Ambassador: My
favorite experience about being a Schulich ambassador would
definitely be when I go for high school visits. Seeing the students
interested and asking questions about the university takes me
down memory lane of when I was in grade 12 applying to
Schulich and how eager I was to get accepted into the school. And the best part about these
visits is when you actually see the same students get into Schulich and see their hard work
pay off!

your communication skills to ensure you are able to receive, process and communicate information. This

How Does The Ambassador Program Work?
Page | 9
For events hosted by the Undergraduate Programs Unit, Ambassadors will be emailed registration
details. Most events will require a mandated training to participate. Ambassadors records will
automatically be updated for their participation in UPU and Admissions events; you don’t have to follow
up. Annually you will receive a report from the Student Engagement Coordinator outlining your status in
the program for all your participation.
For external or self-initiated events, such as case competitions, or being an executive of a Schulich or
York Club, Ambassadors will receive an email annually with details on updating their Ambassador
Activity Log. The Ambassador Activity Log allows Ambassadors to update their record for activities they
have partaken in outside of UPU and Admissions run events.
Once a year, your tiers will be updated and recognition for participation will be allocated as follows:
