THE HONOREES
Arguably the most naturally gifted athlete the world has ever seen, Usain St. Leo Bolt, created history at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio when he achieved the ‘Triple Triple’,
three gold medals at three consecutive Olympic Games. Usain’s journey to worldwide stardom started at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing where he won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m, all in world record times. He followed this up with three gold medals in the same events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London to write his name in the history books as the world’s fastest man. Then one day before his 30th birthday he completed the same triple at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio to cement his legacy as a legend in world sport.
Usain currently holds the world records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m and the three fastest 100m times ever run at 9.58, 9.63 and 9.69 seconds. On the world all-time list
Usain holds five of the top ten times ever in the 200m. As part of the Jamaican 4x100m team, Usain broke three world and Jamaican team records having seven fastest 4x100m
times in history.
This was a dream waiting to happen and not just an overnight sensation. Both a standout cricket player and a sprinter early on, Bolt’s natural speed was noticed by coaches at school, and he began to focus solely on sprinting. As early as age 14, young Usain was opening eyes with his lightning speed from regional championships in western Jamaica to national meets in Kingston to meets in the wider Caribbean. By 2001 Bolt became a known commodity and sent signals that he would be a force to be reckoned with in early 2002. Later that year he went on to win the 200m/400m double at CARIFTA Trials before winning four gold medals at the meet held in Nassau, the Bahamas.
2008 was Usain’s breakout year when he rewrote the history books and became one of the biggest sports star on the planet. Since then he has gone from strength to strength with his heroic achievements in the Olympic Games in Beijing, London and Rio and in the IAAF World T&F Championships in Berlin, Daegu, Moscow & Beijing.
Usain has been awarded the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year on four occasions (2009, 2010, 2013 & 2017); the IAAF Male Athlete of the Year six times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016) as well as many awards in many countries in all corners of the world. He has his own clothing line in conjunction with Puma; his own watch made by Hublot; his own restaurant ‘Tracks & Records’ in Kingston, Jamaica; his own shaving company Champion Shave, his own insoles company Enertor; the ‘Usain Bolt Foundation’ and endorses some of the top brands in the world.
In 2011, The Usain Bolt Foundation was founded and is dedicated to the legacy for happy children; to enhance the character of children through educational and cultural development, as they live their dreams. The Usain Bolt Foundation supports the Jamaica Special Olympics, hosts an annual Christmas Treat in Sherwood Content, funded The Walkers Place of Safety and other worthwhile projects.

THE HONOREES
Glen Christian is the founder and chairman of Cari-Med Limited, Kirk Distributors Limited and Federated Pharmaceutical (FP 2014) Limited.
A graduate of The Mico University College, Glen entered the pharmaceutical industry in 1971, as a general sales representative with H.D. Hopwood Limited. He was later assigned as a medical representative, before being promoted to the position of Sales Manager.
In 1986, he started his own pharmaceutical distribution company, Cari-Med Limited, with three employees. Today, he heads the Cari-Med group
comprised of three companies which are industry leaders in pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution, as well as distribution of fast moving Consumer
Goods.
In 2014, Mr. Christian established the Union Gardens Foundation which seeks to forge public-private sector partnerships to construct state of the art early childhood facilities in low-income communities across Jamaica. The Foundation’s first project was the construction of an 11,000 square foot infant school in the inner city community of Union Gardens St. Andrew. The school caters to 120 children aged 3 to 6 years. The Foundation’s objective of supporting the merger of under-resourced basic schools into government run infant schools is based on the model of the Evelyn Mitchell Infant School/Centre of Excellence. This school, for 3-6 year olds, was built in rural Clarendon in 2010 by the Cari-Med Foundation following the merger of three basic schools. The new institution was then handed over to the Ministry of Education (MOE). This approach has now been adopted by the MOE which has stated its intention to merge basic schools across the island into government-managed infant schools.
Glen’s record of service and achievement has earned him numerous honours and awards from the Jamaican government and private sector. His most recent recognition from the business sector was in 2014 when he was inducted into the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica’s Hall of Fame. His list of national honours includes: the Governor General’s Award for Community Service, the Order of Distinction and, most recently, the Order of Jamaica, the third highest honour that can be conferred on a Jamaican citizen. In 2011, he was recognized by the Mico University with a honorary Doctor of Education degree; and in 2016 was the recipient of a honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Technology. He is Chairman of the fundraising committee of the Healing Ministry of Bethel Baptist Church, and is also a member of the boards of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) and the Mico University College.
Glen is married to Marva Christian and the proud father of two sons and two daughters.
