GenCyber@TACC 2021 Communication Plan

Welcome GenCyber@TACC is an innovative and exciting summer program that increases high school students' interest in cybersecurity careers and online safety. Students participate in fun, exploratory lessons and learn about online personal safety, computer networking, mobile security, cryptography, cloud computing, cybercrime and ethics. Cybersecurity is the protection of internet-connected systems such as hardware, software and data from cyber-threats. The practice is used by individuals and enterprises to protect against unauthorized access to data centers and other computer systems. Program Staff

Registration

Participants will register using UT Qualtrics. All participants who complete the registration will start the program on Tuesday, July 6, 2021

Required Camp Forms

All forms sent through DocuSign or found on the CODE@TACC GenCyber@TACC virtual program website. (forms will be available after Friday, April 28, 2021) UT Youth Protection Program Release and Indemnification Agreement UT Youth Protection Program Media Release Code of Conduct Returning Camp Forms

Required camp forms will be returned via DocuSign (electronically) or paper copies can be brought to the camp: JJ Pickle Research Center Texas Advanced Computing Center 10100 Burnet Rd (R8700 / ACB 205) Austin, TX 78758 (Attn: Dawn Hunter). Parent Visits

Students will be unable to have visitors (including parents). Adults with access to our campers require background checks (also checked through the national sex offender registry) and training on protecting children from abuse. Adults (including counselors) are never allowed to be alone with a camper. ADA Accommodations

We will provide participants with reasonable accommodations. Youth Protection Program

All summer programs involving minors at The University of Texas at Austin follow guidelines set forth by the Youth Protection Program (YPP). The purpose of the YPP is to promote the safety of minors participating in programs on university premises or participating in those programs sponsored or supported by the University. All programs work closely with the YPP Director to ensure that every program operates in accordance with all of the university’s policies, rules and regulations, as well as the laws of The State of Texas regarding the safety of minors. Program Platforms

This program will take place using the following platforms:

• UT Zoom and UT Canvas • Chatting only allowed in group setting. • Participants can also text 512-729-5229 if necessary for group staff contact.

Social Media Communication

Designated individuals will set their social media accounts to private for the duration of the camp. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with campers are not allowed.

Post Camp Communication

Campers may stay in contact with the camp director, faculty or staff via the TACC program social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with program staff and faculty are not allowed.

Code of Conduct As a participant in the 2021 GenCyber@TACC Program I agree…

1) I will refrain from sexual or other harassment of the GenCyber@TACC Program participants and staff, and of others.

2) I will not, under any circumstances be disrespectful to guest speakers, counselors or anyone associated with the GenCyber@TACC program, TACC, and UT.

3) Students are to respect counselors, instructors, presenters, and each other at all times. GenCyber@TACC is a privilege. Students are to behave in a courteous manner to all staff and guests. Bullying or taunting fellow students will similarly not be tolerated.

4) There is a zero-tolerance for bullying. I understand that engaging in cyberbullying will result in being immediately expelled from the program. I understand I am not allowed to communicate virtually one-on-one with other participants during the program.

5) I understand the online programming environment does not excuse me from adhering to the rules and regulations. I understand I am expected to refrain from excessive electronic usage of my personal devices (i.e. cell phones, tablets, etc.).

6) I understand an online summer program should be treated the same as an in-person program. I will be aware of strong language, all caps, and exclamation

points. I will not be disruptive to the instruction, and I will log in on time and ready to participate. I will ensure I am in a quiet room with a clean backdrop and free of offensive and inappropriate material. I understand I will be dismissed from the program if I do not adhere to the above rules.

7) I understand that there is a zero-tolerance for alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco products. Any violations of this rule will result in immediate expulsion from the program.

8) I understand I am expected to dress appropriately while on camera. Must follow school dress code rules. Pajamas or swimwear is not permitted at any time.

9) I understand if any of the above regulations in the Participant Agreement are not followed, my parent(s)/guardian(s) will be called and I will be subject to immediate dismissal from GenCyber@TACC.

10) I understand that if I am expelled from the program, my parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified.

11) Parent(s): I understand that though my child will be supervised, it is his/her responsibility to conduct him/herself as a young adult and abide by all program rules and regulations at all times.
